But something changed for Usha, and not long after we buried my friend, she became pregnant with our fourth child, a boy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kirk was shot dead during a TPUSA event in September. The Vances were among those who appeared to take Kirk\u2019s loss the hardest.<\/p>\n<p>Vance, who is Catholic, now writes that \u201cone life was stolen from us, but another was given.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know why God does things like this,\u201d he continued. \u201cBut I am grateful to Him that there will soon be another source of joy in our lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=849\">Bill Maher Fires Latest Shot in Ongoing War With Trump<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the excerpt, Vance reveals that he leaned heavily on Kirk for counsel during the early days of the 2024 election campaign as his family grappled with their rising public profiles. He recounted how his 7-year-old son was taking it particularly hard, telling Kirk that \u201csometimes I feel like I ruined his life without even asking him.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Vance said that Kirk then told him, \u201c\u2018Don\u2019t try to convince your son it\u2019s not a sacrifice. It is. Just try to take some solace in the fact that it\u2019s a worthy sacrifice. I\u2019ll say a prayer for you.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The excerpt also reveals that Vance first learned of the assassination through a series of group chats that Kirk was also part of.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018Charlie was shot,\u2019 one of the messages read. \u201c\u2018It doesn\u2019t look good.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Vance said it was Erika Kirk\u2019s comments after the killing that made him question his own mortality and what his children\u2014aged nine, six, and four\u2014would remember about him if he suffered a similar fate.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cI realized that in such moments, everything worldly we value fades to nothing,\u201d he wrote. \u201cErika didn\u2019t care that her husband was politically influential or had the president\u2019s ear.
