{"id":779,"date":"2026-06-05T15:41:54","date_gmt":"2026-06-05T15:41:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=779"},"modified":"2026-06-05T15:41:54","modified_gmt":"2026-06-05T15:41:54","slug":"trump-lawyers-make-stunning-refusal-in-10b-court-battle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=779","title":{"rendered":"Trump Lawyers Make Stunning Refusal in $10B Court Battle"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>Donald Trump\u2019s lawyers are refusing to hand over any financial information about the president as part of his $10 billion lawsuit against the BBC.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=778\">Trump Wins Fight to Blow $125 Million on \u2018Dumbest Thing Ever\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Trump is suing the publicly funded British broadcaster, claiming it defamed him by \u201cintentionally, maliciously, and deceptively\u201d editing two parts of his Jan. 6, 2021, speech to make it seem as though he had encouraged his supporters to storm the Capitol.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The complaint focuses on a segment of the BBC\u2019s <i>Panorama<\/i> program, which spliced together Trump saying, \u201cWe\u2019re going to walk down to the Capitol\u201d and \u201cfight like hell, if you don\u2019t fight like hell, you\u2019re not gonna have a country anymore,\u201d despite the two remarks actually being made nearly an hour apart.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Even though the president is seeking $10 billion in damages over claims that the BBC program damaged \u201cthe value of his brand, properties and businesses,\u201d Trump\u2019s lawyers have not handed over any documents to prove it, the Financial Times reported.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the discovery process, the BBC subpoenaed the Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust, which holds the president\u2019s business interests and assets, in order to determine the financial impact of the <i>Panorama<\/i> documentary, which first aired in October 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Court filings from the trust\u2019s legal team, which also represents Trump in the suit, said it had made \u201cmultiple objections\u201d to requests for financial documents, accusing the BBC of carrying out a \u201cfishing expedition\u201d and arguing \u201cthat, as a non-party, it need not substantively respond.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s legal team also said the 30-day timeline sought by the BBC to produce \u201ctens of thousands of documents from hundreds of non-parties\u201d was \u201cunreasonable\u201d and \u201cimproper,\u201d according to the filing seen by the Financial Times.<\/p>\n<p>The BBC said there \u201cappears to be a flat refusal\u201d by the Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust\u2014which is managed by the president\u2019s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr.\u2014to provide any \u201cfinancial information under subpoena,\u201d despite arguing that the BBC damaged \u201cthe value of his brand, properties, and businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=776\">Lara Trump Exposes Trump\u2019s Tackiest White House Refurb Yet<\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to the FT, Trump has not turned over any documentation as part of his $10 billion lawsuit, whereas the BBC has produced more than 45,000 documents during discovery.<\/p>\n<p>The BBC has apologized to Trump for the editing of the <i>Panorama<\/i> documentary but has called for the suit to be dismissed. The broadcaster\u2019s legal team argued that, because Trump won the 2024 election soon after the program aired, he \u201ccannot plausibly claim that the documentary harmed his reputation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In previous court submissions, the BBC noted that more than 100 defendants charged in connection with the Jan. 6 Capitol riot told courts that they interpreted Trump\u2019s speech as a \u201ccall to action.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a statement to the FT, a spokesperson for Trump\u2019s legal team said the BBC must be held liable for \u201cintentionally and maliciously defaming\u201d the president by \u201cdistorting and manipulating his speech.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo amount of attempted legal maneuvers can change that fact,\u201d the spokesperson added. \u201cPresident Trump will continue to hold accountable the BBC and all those who traffic in fake news.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit is scheduled to go to trial in February 2027 if the BBC\u2019s motion to dismiss is unsuccessful.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Beast has contacted Trump\u2019s legal team and the BBC\u2019s legal team for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=774\">Whistleblower Exposes Trump Goons\u2019 Jaw-Dropping Social Security Plot<\/a><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/article>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Donald Trump\u2019s lawyers are refusing to hand over any financial information about the president as part of his $10 billion lawsuit against the BBC.
