On Wednesday\u2019s episode of his podcast Politicon, the Democrat expanded on his theory that the president is attempting to destroy the U.S.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>It follows Trump\u2019s appointment of federal housing regulator Bill Pulte as acting director of national intelligence this week, despite having no traditional intelligence background. He replaces Tulsi Gabbard, who resigned in May to care for her husband after his diagnosis with a rare form of bone cancer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>During her time in the job, Gabbard clashed with Trump over his war with Iran.<\/p>\n<p>Trump ally Pulte is also retaining his existing jobs overseeing federal housing and mortgage policies, positions he has used to attack the president\u2019s political foes.<\/p>\n<p>Carville\u2019s co-host, veteran Washington journalist Al Hunt, labeled Pulte\u2019s hiring \u201cabsolutely laughable, if it weren\u2019t so tragic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hunt said Pulte served \u201cas a hitman\u201d for Trump in his role as a housing regulator and called him \u201ca man of no reputation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is totally unqualified for this post,\u201d Hunt said, claiming his \u201cdisgraceful\u201d appointment details \u201cthe utter contempt that Trump has for the American intelligence community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The journalist also shared his theory that Pulte will potentially claim that \u201cNational intelligence shows that foreigners are trying to help Democrats win this election.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Carville agreed that Pulte has been installed in his new role to do one job, which is \u201cto do everything he can to f&#8212; with the election on the behalf of Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI always say, I don\u2019t know if Trump is a traitor,\u201d Carville said. \u201cBut he would do everything that a traitor would do. And this is just more evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Beast has contacted the White House for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Trump praised Pulte on Truth Social for his \u201chas deep experience managing the most sensitive matters in America, the safety and soundness of the Markets\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Pulte, the grandson of billionaire homebuilding mogul William J. Pulte, pushed for Justice Department investigations into claims that Trump foe, New York Attorney General Letitia James, committed insurance fraud, related to her properties in Illinois and Florida.<\/p>\n<p>Former Obama adviser David Axelrod called out in an X Post the concept of Trump appointing his \u201cpolitical hatchet man\u201d in his key intelligence role with \u201cno relevant experience\u201d while the U.S. is at war with Iran.<\/p>\n<p>Axelrod then posted that Pulte is \u201can unqualified errand boy\u201d who\u2019s only intelligence experience is \u201cspying on [Trump\u2019s] perceived `enemies\u2019, rummaging through their mortgage documents as head of FHA, looking for dirt. It was a total abuse of his authority there.
