That outlet reported Monday that workers are raising the lawn\u2019s level to bring it flush with the helipad, which Trump wants completed before Chinese President Xi Jinping\u2019s state visit next month.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe lawn will gently be reshaped to meet the new helipad,\u201d one White House official told the Post.<\/p>\n<p>Photographs of the site also show work on the lawn, which slopes downward toward the National Mall.<\/p>\n<p>The helipad project has also meant work on the South Portico and the White House driveway. The cost, according to contractor\u2019s records seen by the Post, is $13 million\u2014but that was before changes were made to the lawn. <\/p>\n<p>The White House did not immediately respond to the Post or the Daily Beast asking about any additional cost.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, 80, proudly showed the site on Monday to children who participated in a Back to School event in the Rose Garden. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love construction,\u201d Trump said, according to GB News editor Tom Harwood. \u201cKids love construction.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=6027\">Trump\u2019s Nepo Sister Pick Stays Mum on Red Flag Topic<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t immediately clear if Trump mentioned the slope of the lawn specifically; pool reports didn\u2019t specify.<\/p>\n<p>Work on the helipad got off to a rocky start earlier this month, with Trump demanding a redo following weeks of around-the-clock work. This involved taking apart the 100-foot-wide presidential seal, engraved in granite. It was then that Trump questioned the need to reslope the lawn, according to the Post.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had a lot of slope on it, and I felt it was too much slope,\u201d Trump told reporters last week during a tour of the project.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile on the White House grounds, construction of Trump\u2019s controversial ballroom continues\u2014at least temporarily\u2014thanks to a friendly ruling last week by the Supreme Court. <\/p>\n<p>The president\u2019s vanity projects at the White House and in the capital area take up a majority\u2014about 70 percent\u2014of his focus, Trump biographer Maggie Haberman has estimated.<\/p>\n<p>Last October, when the East Wing of the White House was being torn down, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt acknowledged that the ballroom was the president\u2019s \u201cmain priority.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A few months later, he couldn\u2019t help but abruptly get up from a meeting to go look out a window at the construction site.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=6025\">White House Makes Natalie Harp Disappear From Melania Video<\/a><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/article>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Donald Trump\u2019s newest White House vanity project is undergoing changes as work continues around the clock to finish construction.
