Jon Ossoff a \u201csucker punching coward\u201d after he name-dropped her in an attack on Trump. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>But some of Trump\u2019s most devoted allies are trying to pull the rug out from under Jennings\u2019 apparent path to the podium, the New York Post reports. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not going to be him,\u201d one person close to the administration told the outlet.<\/p>\n<p>The backlash appears to center on Jennings\u2019 ties to Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell, a longtime Trump adversary who has been missing from public view for more than two months.<\/p>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Jennings, who once served as an aide to McConnell and says he\u2019s known the senator since he was 16, rushed to McConnell\u2019s defense last month amid mounting scrutiny over the senator\u2019s disappearance, saying McConnell had \u201cchanged the trajectory of my life.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s MAGA allies are finding it especially difficult to look past Jennings and McConnell\u2019s brutal rebukes of Trump after the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot, according to the Post. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=5822\">White House at War Over ICE Maiden\u2019s Favorite Goon<\/a><\/p>\n<p>McConnell deemed Trump \u201cpractically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day,\u201d while Jennings was similarly blunt in a CNN op-ed at the time: \u201cTrump caused this insurrection with his lies and conspiracy theories about the election process being rigged against him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For both men, those words did not necessarily translate to action, with McConnell voting in February 2021 to acquit Trump of inciting the riot and Jennings endorsing Trump in the 2024 election while becoming one of his staunchest defenders on TV. <\/p>\n<p>But that may not be enough to make bygones be bygones for some in the Trump camp. <\/p>\n<p>Jennings did not immediately respond to the Daily Beast\u2019s request for comment. When reached by the Post, he responded by texting a GIF of Patrick Swayze\u2019s character James Dalton in the 1989 film <i>Road House <\/i>captioned: \u201cOpinions vary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One senior administration official denied that Trump had zeroed in on any favorites. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s an open book,\u201d they said. \u201cThere are no favorites or preconceived ideas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the Post, some in Trump\u2019s orbit believe his affection for Leavitt is making the transition harder.
