Chuck Grassley\u2019s household vacuum crisis has reached catastrophic new levels. After mourning his beloved 49-year-old \u201cBeth\u201d last week, the 92-year-old Iowa senator has now revealed that his backup vacuum also bit the dust.<\/p>\n

The Iowa Republican\u2014who, at 92 years old, is the oldest U.S. senator\u2014shared his last sucky vacuum parting just last week, when the 49-year-old clean machine that he had named \u201cBeth\u201d passed.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cU willl see Beth no more,\u201d the senator wrote on X, with a photo of visible burn marks near Beth\u2019s power cord from \u201celectrical sparks,\u201d Grassley explained. \u201cIt\u2019s not safe to use anymore. GOOD BYE BETH. U hv been a real workhorse.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Now, the nonagenarian is lamenting the loss of yet another ancient appliance.<\/p>\n

\u201cDisappointed my backup plan to vacuum for my family reunion didn\u2019t work,\u201d he wrote on X Saturday. \u201cMy 1966 Electrolux is also<\/i> broken. I\u2019m going to have to wait now until someone gives me a used Hoover,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Grassley, who has been on vacation this month, said his mom gave him the Electrolux decades ago. He hoped it would hold out until he bought a new Hoover, \u201cbut it just didn\u2019t work out that way.\u201d<\/p>\n

X posters were agog, with one reminding the platform that Grassley, as the current president pro tempore, is chillingly \u201cThird. In. Line. To The Presidency.\u201d<\/p>\n

Many of the critics appeared to be right-wingers, with several angrily pressing Grassley on their favored legislation. \u201cYou don\u2019t work, either,\u201d snapped one poster. \u201cGet your sorry a– back to work and pass the SAVE America Act.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Daily Beast has reached out to Senator Grassley\u2019s office for comment.<\/p>\n

Another urged: \u201cPass the SAVE America Act and I\u2019ll send you a Miele\u201d vacuum cleaner. (Ironically, Mieles are made in Germany and China.)<\/p>\n

There were several serious jabs over the issue from heavier hitters. Former GOP Alabama state House candidate Billy Ray Todd complained that Grassley should stop grousing and instead \u201cbe in D.C. passing the SAVE Act.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grassley\u2019s post was either an \u201cenormous detachment from reality or a giant middle finger,\u201d posted conservative commentator and comedian Joe Dan Gorman, who added: \u201cAnd this applies to ALL 53 Republican senators.\u201d<\/p>\n

Conservative journalist Chris Nelson torched Grassley over his age: \u201cHe\u2019s not ever a boomer,\u201d he wrote. \u201cHis kids<\/i> are boomers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grassley\u2019s harsh critics may be unaware of where he stands on the controversial voting bill.<\/p>\n

Grassley strongly supports Donald Trump\u2019s pet SAVE America Act, and was even a co-sponsor of the bill. He believes that requirements of the proposed law\u2014such as voters showing specific identification at polling booths, states sharing all voter lists with Trump\u2019s Department of Homeland Security, and sharp restrictions on mail-in voting\u2014would protect the integrity of elections, even though there\u2019s no evidence that U.S. elections are fraudulent.<\/p>\n
