Marco Rubio really wants Donald Trump to know he\u2019s still the \u201cPresident of Peace.\u201d <\/p>\n

Rubio delivered the shameless bit of flattery Saturday, just as Trump\u2019s war with Iran enters its sixth month. The secretary of state posted his declaration on X to mark the one-year anniversary of a peace declaration signed by the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan at what he called a \u201cmonumental\u201d White House meeting hosted by Trump.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cPresident Trump is the President of Peace,\u201d Rubio\u2019s post began. \u201cOne year ago today, he secured peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan during a monumental meeting at the White House. Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan and Azerbaijan President Aliyev signed a historic Joint Declaration that marked a historic breakthrough for both nations.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In the weeks that followed, Trump bungled the details of the \u201cwar\u201d he repeatedly claimed to have solved, referring to Armenia as \u201cAlbania\u201d on at least two occasions and mangling the pronunciation of Azerbaijan.<\/p>\n

On Sept. 18, during a joint press conference with the U.K.\u2019s then-Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump announced that \u201cI think that we settled Aber-baijan and Albania.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since then, Trump has captured and jailed Venezuelan President Nicol\u00e1s Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores; repeatedly threatened to take over Cuba and Greenland; and launched an ongoing\u2014and increasingly deadly\u2014war against Iran.<\/p>\n

The very public suck-up didn\u2019t go well for Rubio\u2014or the president\u2014as the post was quickly pelted with thousands of astonished, negative comments.<\/p>\n

One X user sarcastically replied that he \u201cadmired\u201d Rubio\u2019s \u201ccommitment to branding, but \u2018President of Peace\u2019 hits differently when four months ago an entire civilization was apparently on a timer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another poster put Cabinet officials in clown shoes. <\/p>\n

\u201cWas that before or after you guys dropped two tomahawk bombs on an elementary school,\u201d one X user asked about the killing of some 175 people, many of them children, in a U.S. missile strike that demolished an elementary school during the first month of the war with Iran. \u201cPresident of peace, my a–,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n

\u201cImagine needing a paycheck this badly,\u201d wrote another poster alongside a photo of Rubio captioned, \u201cMy soul. Just sell it.\u201d<\/p>\n
