She was brought in to kill it and is doing exactly that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pelley was also \u201cpushing back strongly on last Thursday\u2019s firings,\u201d Barr wrote. And he was supported in the meeting by producers who \u201cshowed up for him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After Bilton gave what was reportedly a \u201clame\u201d answer to a question, Pelley attacked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou wouldn\u2019t do very well in a <i>60 Minutes<\/i> interview,\u201d he reportedly said. <\/p>\n<p>Another source told the New York Post that Bilton was \u201cticked off\u201d and replied: \u201cScott, I\u2019m not intimidated by you.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The source said Bilton then added, \u201cEnjoy the bagels,\u201d before getting up and leaving the room. <\/p>\n<p>CBS did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>The clash comes after a bloodbath at <i>60 Minutes<\/i> last week. Correspondents Sharyn Alfonsi and Cecilia Vega were fired on Thursday, along with executive producer Tanya Simon, a 30-year veteran of the program who is being replaced by Bilton, a man who has never worked in TV news.<\/p>\n<p>Pelley is not alone in his outrage. CBS News staffers are up in arms over Weiss\u2019 plans to overhaul <i>60 Minutes <\/i>and are petitioning their billionaire boss to rein her in.<\/p>\n<p>Breaker Media founder Lachlan Cartwright told <i>MS Now<\/i> on Sunday night that journalists at CBS are at their wits\u2019 end about Weiss\u2019 changes, which they believe are skewing the network\u2019s coverage in favor of the Trump administration. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was made aware of a letter that will go out tomorrow to [Paramount CEO] David Ellison from CBS news staffers,\u201d he said. \u201cThey are asking David Ellison to respect editorial values and independent journalism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cartwright said the firings were the last straw for news staff, who have been concerned about the journalistic direction of the network under Weiss for some time. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=505\">Melania Named in Bombshell New Epstein Claims<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was a letter meant to go out last year, they decided at that point not to do it, but this letter is going to go out tomorrow to David Ellison from these staffers because people I speak to within CBS are absolutely distraught about what\u2019s going on here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said staff at the network are sure the changes at <i>60 Minutes<\/i> are the result of President Donald Trump\u2019s ire at the program.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile there\u2019s no smoking gun, Trump\u2019s DNA is all over this,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDonald Trump has always raged against <i>60 Minutes<\/i>,\u201d Cartwright said, pointing out that the president sued the program for millions. <\/p>\n<p>The changes at <i>60 Minutes <\/i>come as the show is performing strongly in the ratings, and has a respected reputation. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf it ain\u2019t broke why are you fixing it?\u201d Cartwright asked. \u201cThey are going to blow up the most respected program. <\/p>\n<p>He speculated that new executive producer Nick Bilton got the job because he \u201cprobably met Bari Weiss at a dinner party in LA and they got along.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cartwright, who has worked with Bilton at Vanity Fair, said he had no television or managerial experience and was a lazy and opportunistic journalist who is \u201cthe type that looks at a story and he looks to monetize it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said there was no reason to axe veteran executive producer Tanya Simon, except to completely change the editorial direction. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you want to dismantle the program&#8230;you have to bring in an outsider to really blow it up,\u201d Cartwright said. <\/p>\n<p>Paramount CEO Ellison is one of the many billionaires who have courted the Trump administration, cozying up to the 79-year-old president and doing his bidding at CBS. <\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Installing Weiss at CBS News and firing Stephen Colbert are two of the highest-profile appeasements he\u2019s made so far.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=503\">What You Need to Know About Jeffrey Epstein\u2019s Entourage of Young Women<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Longtime 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley confronted his new boss over the ouster of his executive producer and other colleagues in a fiery meeting Monday morning.
