{"id":4987,"date":"2026-08-05T21:48:07","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T21:48:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=4987"},"modified":"2026-08-05T21:48:07","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T21:48:07","slug":"trump-goon-melts-down-at-journalist-over-gossip-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=4987","title":{"rendered":"Trump Goon Melts Down at Journalist Over \u2018Gossip\u2019 Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has publicly attacked a journalist for daring to report on him dragging the Federal Reserve into President Donald Trump\u2019s effort to prop up a foreign currency.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=4985\">Trump\u2019s DOJ Goons Sued by New Mexico in Epstein Files Saga<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Bessent, 63, melted down Wednesday in a high-brow post that called out Nick Timiraos, the chief economics correspondent at the Rupert Murdoch-owned Wall Street Journal, by name. <\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cOne of the highlights of the Warsh Fed has been watching stenographers posing as journalists, like the WSJ\u2019s Nick Timiraos, reduced to reporting Fed backroom gossip because they\u2019re incapable of performing real economic or monetary policy analysis without being spoon-fed,\u201d Bessent wrote.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The former hedge fund manager, worth an estimated $600 million by Forbes\u2019 calculation, was set off by a relatively straightforward report that detailed his request that the apolitical Fed expand a lending program that would allow Japan to prop up the embattled Yen. <\/p>\n<p>It is unclear why the piece, headlined \u201cWhy Bessent Is Leaning on the Fed to Help Prop Up Japan\u2019s Currency,\u201d prompted Bessent to accuse Timiraos of being \u201cspoon-fed.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>In fact, Bessent had publicly urged the Fed on X to expand the lending program\u2014a Fed backstop created to address the 2020 dollar shortage\u2014as part of Trump\u2019s effort to help Japan arrest the slide of its currency without disrupting the already-sensitive U.S. Treasury market. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=4983\">Trump Ally Cornered on \u2018Decrepit\u2019 McConnell Health Attacks<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Bessent may have taken issue a suggestion that the Trump administration could be encroaching on the Fed\u2019s independence\u2014a touchy topic after Kevin Warsh, Trump\u2019s hand-picked Fed chair, took over at the central bank in May. <\/p>\n<p>Timiraos wrote that Bessent\u2019s request that the Fed help the Trump administration in its effort to support the Yen \u201cinvites scrutiny of where Treasury\u2019s authority ends and the Fed\u2019s begins\u2014a boundary made more delicate by the change in Fed leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The veteran reporter also quoted Derek Tang, an economist at the research firm Monetary Policy Analytics, who noted, \u201cThe Fed is very cautious when it comes to doing things that look like they\u2019re veering into foreign policy or fiscal policy.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Tang said that the Trump administration\u2019s joint intervention with Japan in its currency \u201cdoes seem to be a very political project by the administration, and the question is: Is it the Fed\u2019s role to enable that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=4982\">\u2018MAGA Barbie\u2019 Blames Everyone Else for Making Her a \u2018Distraction\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Treasury Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has publicly attacked a journalist for daring to report on him dragging the Federal Reserve into President Donald Trump\u2019s effort to prop up a foreign currency.
