{"id":4905,"date":"2026-08-04T19:11:30","date_gmt":"2026-08-04T19:11:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=4905"},"modified":"2026-08-04T19:11:30","modified_gmt":"2026-08-04T19:11:30","slug":"judges-tear-apart-trumps-free-speech-bs-in-dozens-of-rulings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=4905","title":{"rendered":"Judges Tear Apart Trump\u2019s Free Speech BS in Dozens of Rulings"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>Dozens of judges have ruled that Donald Trump\u2019s policies illegally stifled free speech, in what legal experts say is an unprecedented rebuke of a president who campaigned on a platform of ending censorship. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=4904\">Trump\u2019s Memecoin Grift Hit With Calls for \u2018Scam\u2019 Probe<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Trump accused the Biden administration of an \u201conline censorship regime\u201d after the government tried to halt the spread of false information about the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 election. <\/p>\n<div>\n<p>He made free speech a central part of his 2024 campaign and, after his return to office, scoffed at so-called \u201ccancel culture\u201d by welcoming politically toxic individuals into the administration, according to Politico. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>But despite claiming to champion free speech, federal judges have ruled in an unprecedented 75 cases that Trump\u2019s policies violated the First Amendment rights to freedom of speech, religion, or the press, according to a new analysis by Reuters. <\/p>\n<p>The cases were brought in response to the administration\u2019s efforts to stifle people and groups that opposed Trump\u2019s agenda, according to Reuters. <\/p>\n<p>They included rulings that the administration had illegally detained, deported, and revoked visas of foreign students who supported Palestine; terminated grants to research organizations that refused to adopt the White House\u2019s ideological agenda; retaliated against law firms based on their legal advocacy; and used excessive force against protesters. <\/p>\n<p>Several lawsuits were also filed by media organizations after the administration restricted reporters\u2019 access to the White House and Pentagon. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe President\u2019s palpable misunderstanding that the \u200cgovernment simply cannot seek retribution for speech he disdains poses a great threat to Americans\u2019 freedom of speech,\u201d wrote Boston-based Judge William Young, a Ronald Reagan appointee, in the case involving foreign students. <\/p>\n<p>Professor Timothy Zick of William &amp; Mary Law School told the outlet that no president has taken such sweeping action to suppress free speech since President Woodrow Wilson oversaw thousands of deportations and arrests in the early 20<sup>th<\/sup> Century. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=4902\">Epstein Survivors Blast Republican Rebels Over Blanche Vote<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The 75 losses were out of 93 total cases brought during Trump\u2019s second term in which judges addressed First Amendment arguments, according to Reuters. <\/p>\n<p>The administration appealed about two-thirds of the cases, with several of the rulings put on hold while the legal proceedings play out. <\/p>\n<p>Most of Trump\u2019s losses were handed down by judges appointed by Democratic presidents, but 10 of the cases were heard by Republican appointees. <\/p>\n<p>During President Joe Biden\u2019s term, the courts weighed in on just 27 cases involving First Amendment challenges\u2014most of them involving vaccine mandates\u2014and ruled against the administration in 13 cases. <\/p>\n<p>Trump officials have repeatedly accused judges who rule against the administration of being \u201cactivists\u201d interfering with the president\u2019s authority. <\/p>\n<p>White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson told Reuters in a statement that the First Amendment rulings were an example of the federal judiciary \u201crepeatedly endangering and obstructing the election choices of the American people with its unlawful rulings.\u201d <\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Daily Beast has also reached out to the White House and the Department of Justice for comment. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=4901\">McConnell\u2019s Staff Raking in Six-Figure Sum in His Absence<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dozens of judges have ruled that Donald Trump\u2019s policies illegally stifled free speech, in what legal experts say is an unprecedented rebuke of a president who campaigned on a platform of ending censorship.
