{"id":4882,"date":"2026-08-04T12:09:32","date_gmt":"2026-08-04T12:09:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=4882"},"modified":"2026-08-04T12:09:32","modified_gmt":"2026-08-04T12:09:32","slug":"cnn-legal-guru-calls-bs-on-trump-goons-excuse-for-humiliating-pool-debacle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=4882","title":{"rendered":"CNN Legal Guru Calls BS on Trump Goon\u2019s Excuse for Humiliating Pool Debacle"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>A CNN legal analyst and former federal prosecutor rejected Jeanine Pirro\u2019s attempts to blame career prosecutors in her own office for a legal filing that infuriated Donald Trump. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=4881\">World Cup Winner Gives Cringe Explanation for Trumpy Rebrand<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The 80-year-old president was livid after his longtime ally, a former Fox News host who now leads the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the District of Columbia, dismissed baseless charges against former Olympian David Hearn accusing him of vandalizing the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. <\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The filing acknowledged that damage to the pool\u2019s new \u201cAmerican-flag blue\u201d sealant was caused by shoddy construction work and blamed the Department of the Interior for failing to \u201cfully and accurately provide information\u201d to federal prosecutors.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>But during a heated phone call with the president on Saturday, Pirro tried to distance herself from the decision by claiming career officials in her office were responsible for the filing, sources told CNN\u2019s Kaitlan Collins. <\/p>\n<p>The network\u2019s resident legal analyst, Elie Honig, didn\u2019t believe that excuse for \u201cone second,\u201d he told Collins during Monday\u2019s episode of her show <i>The Source. <\/i> <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no way on this earth, having been one of those career officials, that when your U.S. attorney calls a press conference like that, that\u2019s covered on national news, you would then go and dismiss the case without looping in the U.S. attorney,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s a fireable offense, so I do not buy that that was done without her knowledge for one second,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n<p>Reporting from The Washington Post appeared to confirm his observations, with sources telling the newspaper that Pirro had reviewed and approved the motion after speaking with Michael Spence, chief of the Superior Court Division, who signed it. <\/p>\n<p>The Daily Beast has reached out to the DOJ for comment. <\/p>\n<p>The president spent months hyping his renovations of the famed monument, only for the $16 million \u201crepairs\u201d to result in peeling blue sealant and a record-breaking algal bloom that turned the water slime-green.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of blaming the companies that received no-bid contracts to complete the work, Trump claimed the damage was the work of vandals and ordered a law-enforcement blitz at the site.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=4879\">Pop Star Taking a \u2018Step Back\u2019 After Intense Health Scrutiny<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Pirro announced during a July 2 press conference that she was charging Hearn, a former Olympic canoe racer, with a felony count of property destruction that carried a sentence of up to 10 years in prison if convicted. <\/p>\n<p>She claimed he had used both hands to \u201cforcefully and violently\u201d pull up the pool\u2019s new sealant in a \u201cdeliberate act,\u201d and became belligerent toward an employee who asked him to stop. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a case with tremendous evidence,\u201d she said, as reported by PBS. <\/p>\n<p>Hearn, however, said he was arrested after he stopped by the Reflecting Pool during a bike ride and reached down to touch a piece of detached lining \u201cto satisfy my curiosity as a citizen.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The case fell apart after partial transcripts of the grand jury proceedings that led to Hearn\u2019s indictment revealed that the government\u2019s own witness testified the property was already damaged before Hearn touched it, and would have needed thousands of dollars\u2019 worth of repairs regardless of Hearn\u2019s actions. <\/p>\n<p>Within days of Hearn\u2019s lawyers asking for the full transcripts and legal instructions provided to the grand jurors, Pirro\u2019s office moved to dismiss the charges against him. <\/p>\n<p>Trump spent the weekend fuming over the motion and considered firing Pirro over it, according to CNN. <\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, he ripped into her on Truth Social, writing, \u201cI disagree 100% with Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, on the Reflecting Pool. I don\u2019t know what she was thinking?
