The political firestorm sparked by her comments was never far from the match. Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve, 59, wore a T-shirt that read \u201cTrans Kids Belong,\u201d while protesters picketed the entrance to the stadium.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Minnesota Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve is wearing a &#8220;Trans Kids Belong&#8217; T-shirt to protest Sophie Cunningham&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Sophie is getting HEAVILY BOOED every time she touches the ball. pic.twitter.com\/duhkYq8uZI<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 BrickCenter (@BrickCenter_) August 2, 2026<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Fox News hardliner Laura Ingraham led the charge online in the aftermath of the game. \u201cShould Cunningham and Clark even continue to play?\u201d she posted on X, in reference to both the guard and her teammate Caitlin Clark. \u201cI honestly worry for their safety during the games, and entering and exiting the stadiums. These pro-trans people are obsessed militants capable of anything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There are no reports of any threat of violence at Sunday\u2019s match. It is also unclear why Ingraham thought Clark might have been a target of the audience\u2019s booing, given she\u2019s conspicuously avoided taking a side in the furor.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=4803\">Trump\u2019s AG Pick Caves to Republican Rebels in Major Climbdown<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Far-right pundit Matt Walsh was also quick to hop on the bandwagon. \u201cIt\u2019s funny to watch these leftists cling to the trans bulls\u2013-t,\u201d he wrote. \u201cThe pro-trans side has been thoroughly defeated at every level\u2014politically, culturally, in the courts, in the legislatures, everywhere\u2014and yet they can\u2019t let it go.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat a total mess the WNBA is,\u201d fellow right-winger Collin Rugg chimed in. \u201cThey spent years demanding they get respect and now that they have more attention, you have head coaches advocating for men in their sport.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pro-Trump influencer Gina Milan went after Reeve directly for the shirt she and other protesters wore at Sunday\u2019s match. \u201cCheryl Reeve said she wore her \u2018Trans kids belong\u2019 shirt to \u2018educate\u2019,\u201d Milan wrote. \u201cEducate us on what? That boys belong in girls\u2019 sports?
