The couple and the children were found in their respective bedrooms.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Three dogs and a cat were found dead outside from fire- or smoke-related injuries.<\/p>\n<p>A person\u2019s legacy \u201cshouldn\u2019t be the worst thing they did on the worst day of their life,\u201d Anderson told the newspaper. He said throughout the time he knew his son-in-law, he was a \u201cgood father and a good husband.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Still, he admitted, he struggles to \u201cunderstand the why.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Authorities found the bodies when they responded to the blaze Karolkiewicz had set at the family home in Grand Haven Township, on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=4694\">Evangelical Preacher Booted From Flight After Surprise Sermon<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Investigators believe Karolkiewicz killed his wife before shooting dead each of the children.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an unspeakable tragedy that we may never completely understand,\u201d Sheriff Eric DeBoer said in a statement after the crime.<\/p>\n<p>Karolkiewicz had recently lost his job with the American Heart Association. <\/p>\n<p>His wife, a substitute teacher, had discussed struggles in their marriage and raising six children on social media, noting she was \u201cstretched too thin.\u201d She reportedly accused her husband of having an \u201cemotional affair\u201d with a younger woman. She had recently returned from a trip with her adopted 11-year-old daughters to their home country of China.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur daughter Mandy was a kind and devoted soul who loved her family and her students,\u201d Amanda\u2019s mother, Becky Lawwill, said in an earlier statement.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cWe treasured every moment we had with her and her six children, and words cannot adequately express our devastation.
