Mitch McConnell\u2019s aides to lawyer up as his health mystery nears its seventh week.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=4542\">Stephen and Katie Miller\u2019s Brazen Hypocrisy Exposed by Secret Diary<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lincoln Project co-founder Steve Schmidt tells <i>The Daily Beast Podcast<\/i>that the issue regarding the 84-year-old McConnell is \u201cthe incandescence of the corruption.\u201d <\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Since McConnell\u2019s June 14 hospitalization for what he describes as a fall followed by pneumonia, he has provided two photos of himself. Yet McConnell\u2019s voice has not been heard, and there is no video proof of his well-being, despite claims he is undergoing \u201cintense physical therapy.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>This uncertainty about McConnell\u2019s condition is becoming a serious problem for his staffers not just politically, but potentially legally, Schmidt suggested.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHere\u2019s my advice to the Mitch McConnell team: get lawyers,\u201d Schmidt told host Joanna Coles. \u201cI think this is a fraud that\u2019s being perpetrated upon the taxpayer and whatever statute is applicable. I think there\u2019s a high likelihood that what they\u2019re doing here is illegal. I don\u2019t think that Mitch McConnell is alive&#8230; I don\u2019t think he\u2019s sentient.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Schmidt says he does not believe the photo McConnell\u2019s team released on Monday was \u201creal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think Mitch McConnell\u2019s walking out of the hospital,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Schmidt defended Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear over criticisms that he is not doing enough to get to the bottom of McConnell\u2019s health mystery. Beshear, a Democrat, has written to McConnell and demanded that he prove his capacity to serve or resign.<\/p>\n<p>Schmidt said Beshear \u201ccan\u2019t show up at the hospital and declare, \u2018It\u2019s I, Andy Beshear, governor of the Commonwealth, let me into the room.\u2019 Right?\u201d <\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cAnd by the way, Andy Beshear\u2019s not in that political party that wants to be in your hospital room with you at the moment of birth, at the moment of death, that\u2019s peering through the bedroom window.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=4540\">Humiliated Trump Melts Down at His Own SCOTUS Justices<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAndy Beshear\u2019s in the party that believes in personal liberty and privacy. So as long as Mitch McConnell is in the hospital room, protected by the Capitol police, who don\u2019t necessarily know what\u2019s going on in the hospital room, where the doctors and the nurses are governed by confidentiality provisions and HIPAA law, who\u2019s to know?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Schmidt added that the uncertainty is indicative of how \u201crotten\u201d an era we are in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe live in an era that\u2019s so rotten and where the lie has so strangled the truth, that whether a man who served in the United States Senate since 1985 and wrecked it, by the way, more than any other\u2014the world\u2019s greatest deliberative body, turned it into a farce and a joke around the world\u2014whether he\u2019s alive or not, after all the damage he did, this is like the penultimate episode of a writer\u2019s fantasy ending for <i>Veep<\/i>,\u201d Schmidt said. \u201cAnd so who\u2019s to know? That\u2019s how rotten our country has become. It\u2019s impossible to know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McConnell\u2019s office is led by longtime aide Terry Carmack, who is set to make $226,000 this year.<\/p>\n<p>McConnell\u2019s communications director is Stephanie Penn, who last Thursday ignored a reporter\u2019s questions about the senator.
