She wrote that she spotted \u201cred flags\u201d in her husband years ago.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cHe was divorced and older than me,\u201d she wrote on Reddit, referring to Kristopher, who was then an executive at the American Heart Association. \u201cFast forward ten years and five kids, he was cheating with the intern again\u2014the same age I was when I was the intern.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She continued, \u201cAfter about a year of self-loathing, I remember crying and looking at myself in the mirror and realizing how (expletive) it was that I was the one who was living so miserably because of what he did. I finally realized that I had been the only person who has ever showed up for myself my whole entire life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Karolkiewicz wrote that she \u201chated\u201d her husband but \u201cfaked\u201d it for their children. <\/p>\n<p>The couple had four boys aged 15, 12, 11 and 5, and two adopted girls, both 11. Authorities say all six were shot dead by their father in their home in Grand Haven Township, which sits on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan, and he then set the home ablaze before turning his gun on himself. Power Dinner<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI kept telling myself, \u2018I love my kids more than I hate my husband right now,\u2019\u201d she wrote. \u201cThey have no idea\u2014I faked it \u2018till we made it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Karolkiewicz added that her spouse had \u201cred flags that I ignored due to my own trauma\u201d and that their confrontations sometimes turned violent, recalling that she once shoved him over an affair. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t feel bad still,\u201d she wrote. \u201cHe towers over me and destroyed me mentally. It felt like I was being assaulted and needed to fight back. I think it\u2019s a fight or flight thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Karolkiewicz wrote that they tried couples\u2019 therapy but that she felt \u201cso discouraged\u201d by the lack of progress.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Kristopher Karolkiewicz was a vice-president of sales and marketing for the American Heart Association from September 2023.
