And you have to defend yourself. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd when you do that and they don\u2019t\u2014they\u2019re not successful, they still accuse you of things. Accusations don\u2019t mean the thing actually happened. While serving as the state attorney general, he was impeached in 2023 on multiple allegations of misconduct but was acquitted by the Texas Senate months later. <\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s decision to endorse Paxton over incumbent Sen. John Cornyn has caused a new rift in the GOP, with the primary estimated to have cost the party $135 million.
