{"id":4257,"date":"2026-07-25T19:42:04","date_gmt":"2026-07-25T19:42:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=4257"},"modified":"2026-07-25T19:42:04","modified_gmt":"2026-07-25T19:42:04","slug":"maga-aide-accused-of-trying-to-bring-drugs-into-senate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=4257","title":{"rendered":"MAGA Aide Accused of Trying to Bring Drugs Into Senate"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>A Heritage Foundation staffer was stopped from entering a Senate office building after authorities say they found ammunition and suspected drugs in his briefcase.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=4255\">How Trump Revealed the Weakness That Will Be His Undoing<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Matthew Christopher Wingate was detained by Capitol Police on July 14 after allegedly attempting to pass through security at the Russell Senate Office Building. <\/p>\n<div>\n<p>According to court records obtained by NOTUS, an X-ray scan of his bag revealed what appeared to be a pistol magazine, prompting officers to carry out a further search.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Although Wingate initially told officers there \u201cshouldn\u2019t be\u201d a magazine in his bag, investigators recovered a magazine loaded with 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition,  filed in Washington, D.C., Superior Court.<\/p>\n<p>The Texas native held a valid license to carry a firearm in Washington, D.C., but firearms and related weapons are prohibited inside Senate office buildings, and he was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.<\/p>\n<p>A further search of his brown briefcase uncovered more than ammunition. <\/p>\n<p>Authorities allege that Wingate\u2014the Heritage Foundation\u2019s government relations director for defense and foreign policy, who previously worked for Republican Senators Joni Ernst and Ted Cruz\u2014was also carrying a plastic sandwich bag containing four capsules and three blue pressed pills.
