Hours later, Brendan noticed his father\u2019s phone location had moved to the family\u2019s business and drove there to check on him, where he found him dead.<\/p>\n<p>A Palm Beach County Sheriff\u2019s Office incident report states Lemieux left a Post-it note on his phone instructing his family to look inside the device\u2019s notes app, where investigators found several individualized messages. Authorities described the notes as \u201cheartfelt in nature,\u201d reflecting sorrow over his actions.<\/p>\n<p>Lemieux enjoyed a 21-year NHL career with teams including the Montreal Canadiens and New Jersey Devils, winning four Stanley Cups and the Conn Smythe Trophy.<\/p>\n<p>Brendan Lemieux, 30, followed in his father\u2019s footsteps into professional hockey. The left winger was selected by the Buffalo Sabres with the 31st overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft and went on to play for the Winnipeg Jets, New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings, Philadelphia Flyers and Carolina Hurricanes.
