{"id":3786,"date":"2026-07-18T20:12:35","date_gmt":"2026-07-18T20:12:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=3786"},"modified":"2026-07-18T20:12:35","modified_gmt":"2026-07-18T20:12:35","slug":"today-show-star-beefs-up-security-after-on-set-scare","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=3786","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Today\u2019 Show Star Beefs Up Security After On-Set Scare"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>Savannah Guthrie has beefed up her security after a racist intruder breached NBC\u2019s studios, marking another distressing moment in a year that began with the kidnapping of her mother.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=3784\">Devastating Poll Reveals New Low for SCOTUS After Trump-Friendly Rulings<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <i>Today<\/i> show host has reportedly hired more security after Andrew Truelove, 41, allegedly slipped past security on Thursday while looking for weatherman Al Roker, 71, before turning his attention to co-anchor Craig Melvin, 47, shouting a racial slur and lunging toward him.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Although Guthrie, 54, was not in the studio when the incident unfolded, insiders told the Daily Mail that it was \u201cincredibly triggering\u201d for the co-anchor, given the disappearance of her mother, Nancy Guthrie, earlier this year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The 84-year-old mother of the <i>Today<\/i> show host was violently abducted from her home in Tucson, Arizona, on Feb. 1 and has not been seen since, with her suspected kidnapper still at large.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe timing couldn\u2019t have been more heartbreaking,\u201d an insider told the Mail, adding, \u201cHow much more can one person take?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Guthrie stepped away from the <i>Today<\/i> show for two months after her mother disappeared. She returned in an emotional episode in April.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s hard to imagine doing it because it\u2019s such a place of joy and lightness,\u201d she said. \u201cI can\u2019t come back and try to be something that I\u2019m not. But I can\u2019t not come back because it\u2019s my family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=3782\">Why Loser Trump Melted Down in Front of Me for Hours: Wolff<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This week, Guthrie announced she would be taking a leave of absence from <i>Today<\/i> to film the pilot episode of <i>Wordle<\/i>, the beloved The New York Times word game coming soon to NBC, which she is set to host.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone is relieved she\u2019s taking the next few weeks off to film another project,\u201d one source told the Mail. \u201cShe\u2019ll get some distance from all of this while everyone back here catches their breath,\u201d they added. <\/p>\n<p>Following the incident on Thursday, Truelove was detained by security before being taken into custody by police. New York cops say he was charged with burglary as a hate crime, menacing as a hate crime, criminal trespass as a hate crime, and harassment. <\/p>\n<p>Truelove is currently being held at Rikers Island on $20,000 bail.
