{"id":3685,"date":"2026-07-17T09:38:47","date_gmt":"2026-07-17T09:38:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=3685"},"modified":"2026-07-17T09:38:47","modified_gmt":"2026-07-17T09:38:47","slug":"trump-judge-rips-doj-goons-over-embarrassing-blunder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=3685","title":{"rendered":"Trump Judge Rips DOJ Goons Over Embarrassing Blunder"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>A federal judge appointed by Donald Trump scolded the Department of Justice for submitting a court filing that included fake case law, which appeared to have been hallucinated by AI. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=3683\">Trump Accidentally Fingers Putin in Election Dump<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The case involved an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainee who had been granted a bond order that was automatically delayed pending appeal. <\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The delay had since expired, making the issue moot, Judge Hala Jarbou of the Western District of Michigan wrote Thursday in what should have been a short and straightforward . <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>But Jarbou was also forced to address the DOJ\u2019s response to an earlier court order that cited a non-existent case supposedly from the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt seems this citation was likely produced by generative artificial intelligence,\u201d Jarbou wrote. \u201cIt should be obvious that any attorney who uses AI must scrupulously review its work product to ensure that the cited cases exist and that the citations accurately and fairly represent the underlying case law.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>She also cited other federal cases, calling it \u201cimproper and unacceptable for litigants\u2026 to submit non-existent judicial opinions with fake quotes and citations.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The Daily Beast has reached out to the Department of Justice for comment. <\/p>\n<p>Alissa Heynen, a lawyer for the plaintiff at the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center, told Reuters in a statement that it was \u201cdisappointing\u201d to learn that the government may have relied on hallucinated cases. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese responses impact real people,\u201d she said. \u201cRelying on fabricated cases is a disservice to the client and to the candor of the court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=3681\">This Is The Truth About Hegseth\u2019s Bizarre HRT Plan<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, a veteran federal prosecutor lost his job after filing an AI-generated court brief with hallucinated quotes and other mistakes, according to Reuters. <\/p>\n<p>The latest mistake comes as federal judges have become increasingly fed up with DOJ attorneys making false statements to the court. <\/p>\n<p>Since Trump returned to office, federal judges have blasted the administration for making questionable legal arguments, filing dishonest testimony, and failing to comply with court orders.<\/p>\n<p>Some of those problems originated with the federal departments represented by the DOJ\u2019s lawyers, including the notoriously unreliable Department of Homeland Security, according to a June report from The New York Times. <\/p>\n<p>But since about mid-May, the judicial rebukes have become even harsher as some judges have begun criticizing the DOJ\u2019s lawyers and holding them personally responsible for engaging in grand jury misconduct and making false statements to the court, according to the Times.<\/p>\n<p>The DOJ said in a statement at the time that \u201cany attack on the professionalism or integrity of DOJ attorneys is outrageous and unjustified,\u201d and that the department was advancing and defending Trump\u2019s agenda \u201cwith the utmost respect for the institution and rule of law.\u201d <\/p>\n<div>\n<p>In Wednesday\u2019s case, Jarbou declined to sanction the AI mistake, but warned that it \u201cgoes without saying\u201d that the government must ensure its filings don\u2019t include hallucinated case law. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=3679\">Senator Shreds MAGA-Coded Anchor for Showcasing Trump\u2019s Lies<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A federal judge appointed by Donald Trump scolded the Department of Justice for submitting a court filing that included fake case law, which appeared to have been hallucinated by AI.
