{"id":3526,"date":"2026-07-15T06:11:57","date_gmt":"2026-07-15T06:11:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=3526"},"modified":"2026-07-15T06:11:57","modified_gmt":"2026-07-15T06:11:57","slug":"trump-goons-escalate-legal-battle-with-top-law-firms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=3526","title":{"rendered":"Trump Goons Escalate Legal Battle With Top Law Firms"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>The Trump administration is reigniting its feud with top law firms it cut deals with just over a year ago.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=3524\">Trump Goon Makes NSFW Joke About His Colleagues<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Justice Department has issued subpoenas to nine law firms that the administration has, to this point, largely left alone after they struck agreements to provide nearly $1 billion in free legal work, The New York Times reported Tuesday. <\/p>\n<div>\n<p>President Donald Trump\u2019s personal lawyer and \u201cpsychiatrist,\u201d Boris Epshteyn, led the charge in organizing deals with the top firms last year, following Trump\u2019s executive orders aimed at dismantling their efficacy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Epshteyn, who is not a government employee, negotiated the deals with firms willing to comply with Trump\u2019s demands, despite the president\u2019s executive orders being widely panned as illegal.<\/p>\n<p>The subpoenas ask for all communications the firms shared with Epshteyn and \u201cany communications concerning the implementation, enforcement, or monitoring of\u201d their agreements with the White House, the Times reported, citing a copy of one subpoena it obtained.<\/p>\n<p>The DOJ is also reportedly seeking to depose a top leader from each firm in the near future.<\/p>\n<p>Neither the White House nor the DOJ immediately returned the Daily Beast\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>The escalation follows a lawsuit against the administration filed by the American Bar Association, which said Trump\u2019s targeting of law firms he does not like \u201cis unprecedented and uniquely dangerous to the rule of law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=3522\">MAGA Declares War on Ice Barbie\u2019s Replacement<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As part of the suit, the association asked a federal judge to compel the White House to produce any communications between itself, Epshteyn, and the Trump ally Steve Bannon.<\/p>\n<p>The DOJ is now demanding the same information from the firms while it awaits a federal judge\u2019s ruling on whether to void the association\u2019s requests.<\/p>\n<p>People familiar with the matter told the Times that the DOJ\u2019s subpoenas are meant to pressure the firms\u2019 leaders in the same way the association\u2019s lawsuit pressured Epshteyn.<\/p>\n<p>Times reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan detailed in their new book <i>Regime Change<\/i> that Epshteyn was seen as a problem by the incoming White House counsel, David Warrington.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEpshteyn\u2019s conduct must be stopped, and his employment and proximity to President Trump should be terminated,\u201d Warrington wrote. \u201cOtherwise, his conduct will likely lead to, at best, a scandal involving the incoming Trump administration, and at worst could lead to criminal indictments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Four of the firms that fought back against Trump\u2019s order in court\u2014Perkins Coie, Jenner &amp; Block, WilmerHale, and Susman Godfrey\u2014scored a major victory when a federal judge deemed the president\u2019s actions unconstitutional.
