{"id":3500,"date":"2026-07-14T19:41:11","date_gmt":"2026-07-14T19:41:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=3500"},"modified":"2026-07-14T19:41:11","modified_gmt":"2026-07-14T19:41:11","slug":"ice-forced-into-drastic-move-after-wave-of-deadly-shootings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=3500","title":{"rendered":"ICE Forced Into Drastic Move After Wave of Deadly Shootings"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>ICE has ordered its agents to stop carrying out traffic stops after a wave of deadly shootings, multiple Department of Homeland Security sources say.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=3498\">Embattled Republican Senator Tries to Claim Credit for ICE Climbdown<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The dramatic climbdown came just hours after one of the agency\u2019s own senior officials told PunchUp that bosses should \u201cshut down ops\u201d before anyone else was killed.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The DHS sources told PunchUp\u2014the Beast\u2019s sister investigations outlet on Substack\u2014that Enforcement and Removal Operations field directors have issued internal guidance instructing officers to make no vehicle stops until further notice, following the deaths of two men stopped by ICE agents in Texas and Maine.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The directive was first reported by the Daily Wire, whose three Homeland Security sources said they had been told there would be \u201cno more vehicle stops for now.\u201d One fumed to the outlet: \u201cNumbers are going down, we can\u2019t do s&#8211;t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The halt threatens to derail the mass-arrest blitz President Donald Trump, 80, covertly ordered at the start of the month, as the Daily Beast reported, which swept up more than 10,000 people in five days.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, a senior ICE official blamed the White House\u2019s quotas for driving exhausted agents into fatal confrontations, as PunchUp and the Beast reported. \u201cThere is a demand for 2,000 arrests a day. Leaders are being fired for bad numbers,\u201d the official told PunchUp.<\/p>\n<p>The insider demanded exactly the freeze that has now been imposed. \u201cI would shut down ops until we got a handle on s&#8211;t,\u201d they said. \u201cNot doing traffic stops. Not blocking the vehicles. If they run. They run. Find them later. But every stop folks are running. Or ramming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Agents shot dead Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, 52, a Mexican homebuilder, in Houston on July 7, and a 26-year-old Colombian named by a neighbor as Joan Sebastian Guerrero, who was heading to work in Biddeford, Maine, on Monday. <\/p>\n<p>Neither man was the target of the operation that killed him. DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin, 48, told Sen. Angus King, 82, that the Maine victim was not the person agents were after. <\/p>\n<p>DHS claims Salgado Araujo \u201cweaponized his vehicle,\u201d while in Maine, the agency said only that its officer fired \u201cfearing for public safety.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An ICE spokesperson told the Daily Beast, \u201cWe are always evaluating our procedures to keep our officers safe and criminals off our streets,\u201d but added that it would not disclose or discuss law enforcement tactics.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><i>Tom Latchem exposes the secrets, scandals, and stories that powerful people and institutions want to keep under wraps.
