{"id":3477,"date":"2026-07-14T13:11:00","date_gmt":"2026-07-14T13:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=3477"},"modified":"2026-07-14T13:11:00","modified_gmt":"2026-07-14T13:11:00","slug":"top-ice-officials-blame-trump-for-fatal-shooting-spree","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=3477","title":{"rendered":"Top ICE Officials Blame Trump for Fatal Shooting Spree"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>Senior ICE officials are blaming President Donald Trump\u2019s demand for mass arrests for a wave of deadly shootings by immigration agents\u2014with one warning that officers \u201cpushed to the breaking point\u201d are being forced into fatal confrontations, PunchUp reports.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=3475\">Murdoch Paper Delivers Scathing Verdict on Trump\u2019s Deal Mess<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Agents have shot dead two men in less than a week\u2014Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, 52, a Mexican homebuilder killed in Houston on July 7, and a 26-year-old Colombian man named by a neighbor as Joan Sebastian Guerrero, who was shot through his windshield in Biddeford, Maine, on Monday.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The killings came days after Trump, 80, issued a covert order for an arrest surge that swept up more than 10,000 people in five days, as the Daily Beast reported on July 2, with field bosses told the White House expected 2,000 detentions every day, according to the New York Times.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>One senior official has now told PunchUp\u2014the Beast\u2019s new sister investigations Substack outlet launched this year\u2014that those quotas are behind the bloodshed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are being forced to have quotas again. They are being pushed for numbers and quotas,\u201d the official said. \u201cThere is a demand for 2,000 arrests a day. Leaders are being fired for bad numbers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The insider described a workforce stretched past its limits. \u201cThey are canceling leave. Stretching the field thin. Pushing them to the extremes. It\u2019s a very bad, toxic environment. Morale is horrible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Agents were denied Independence Day off. \u201cEighty percent of the office has to be in the field. Made them work on July 4th,\u201d they said, adding, \u201cIt\u2019s not sustainable. And it\u2019s not safe. It\u2019s bad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Vehicle stops were at the center of both of the past week\u2019s shootings\u2014and the official said they have become a flashpoint: \u201cTraffic stops are the only way to get them. But every stop folks are running. Or ramming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The official wants enforcement paused altogether. \u201cI would shut down ops until we got a handle on s&#8211;t,\u201d they told PunchUp. \u201cNot doing traffic stops. Not blocking the vehicles. If they run. They run. Find them later. Don\u2019t force a bad position.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>They urged bosses to \u201cget sneakers to the field\u201d and \u201ctalk to the folks in the field\u201d to solve the crisis.<\/p>\n<p>DHS claims Salgado Araujo\u2014a father who had lived in the U.S. for decades\u2014\u201cweaponized his vehicle\u201d during a stop in Houston\u2019s East End. But acting ICE director David Venturella admitted to Rep. Photos show four bullet holes in the windshield of his Kia.<\/p>\n<p>This time, DHS said only that its officer fired \u201cfearing for public safety\u201d\u2014a marked retreat from the aggressive self-defense claims it made in January, when agents killed U.S. citizens Renee Good, 37, and Alex Pretti, also 37, in Minneapolis. <\/p>\n<p>The Beast previously reported that federal immigration agents shot at least 14 people in the six months to February.<\/p>\n<p>Good, an unarmed mother of three, was gunned down by ICE agent Jonathan Ross on Jan. 7 as she tried to drive away from officers. Pretti, a VA intensive care nurse, was wrestled to the ground and shot at a protest on Jan. 24. <\/p>\n<p>PunchUp revealed in April that Ross had been quietly moved to a new role in a new state while the FBI probe into Good\u2019s killing stalled.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty announced federal prosecutors had finally handed over hard drives of statements and bodycam footage\u2014plus the Honda Pilot Good was shot in\u2014after Minnesota sued the administration in March. \u201cThe wonderful thing now is we have all the evidence,\u201d Moriarty said.<\/p>\n<p>The Good family\u2019s attorney, Antonio Romanucci, 65, called it \u201can important and meaningful step towards justice and accountability.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A senior ICE official, who told PunchUp in April that the FBI needed to \u201cs&#8211;t or get off the pot\u201d over the Good investigation, called the handover \u201ca good first step.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Beast has contacted the White House, DHS, and ICE for comment.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><i>Tom Latchem exposes the secrets, scandals, and stories that powerful people and institutions want to keep under wraps.
