Right-wing commentator Megyn Kelly is not convinced by Mitch McConnell\u2019s \u201cproof of life\u201d photo.<\/p>\n

During Monday\u2019s episode of The Megyn Kelly Show<\/i>, the broadcaster-turned-podcaster scrutinized the picture and accompanying statement shared by the Kentucky senator\u2019s team, finding the matter to be a bit fishy.<\/p>\n

\n

Kelly, 55, started by addressing the emergency dispatch call that claimed the former Senate majority leader had suffered a cardiac arrest, conflicting with McConnell\u2019s telling of events.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She then highlighted the photo shared by McConnell\u2019s team, which showed the 84-year-old senator next to his wife, Elaine Chao, while holding Sunday\u2019s edition of The Washington Post sports section, which she said was a \u201ctrue proof of life photo.\u201d<\/p>\n

The podcaster noted that McConnell looked \u201cpropped up\u201d and had an \u201codd\u201d facial expression in the photo.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a little off. I respect and like Mitch McConnell. I\u2014this is not\u2014I\u2019m trying to be respectful of him, but this has a lot of tongues wagging about whether this is real, whether we can trust this photo,\u201d Kelly told her guest, fellow conservative podcaster Michael Knowles.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd now the team is saying\u2014they\u2019re not saying it was a heart attack,\u201c she continued. \u201dThey\u2019re just saying it was something else, like he passed out, and he had some amorphous issue, but not a heart attack. Mitch McConnell is allegedly saying that himself.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, why was he getting CPR? It\u2019s just, there\u2019s a lot,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Kelly also questioned the handling of Lindsey Graham\u2019s death, calling attention to the fact that his team initially said he had died from a \u201cbrief illness.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cA brief illness? Why\u2019d they say that?\u201d she said. \u201cThe autopsy says aortic dissection\u2014that means your heart\u2019s split, and you dropped dead. That\u2019s not a short illness. Why wouldn\u2019t they have just said a cardiac event?”<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know what\u2019s going on, but this is exactly how conspiracy theories get started,\u201d Kelly added.<\/p>\n

After further examining McConnell\u2019s statement, which claimed that he did not suffer \u201ca stroke or a heart attack,\u201d Kelly then questioned why EMS professionals said they had performed CPR if there was no instance of cardiac arrest.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I\u2019d be most unhappy if they performed CPR on me when I\u2014my heart was fine. Seems like a novice mistake, Michael Knowles. I think there might be a lawsuit in order there,\u201d she said. \u201cI don\u2019t know what\u2019s going on, but I don\u2019t trust anybody anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Sunday, McConnell broke his nearly month-long silence over his mystery hospitalization, announcing that he has been recovering in the hospital after a \u201cfall\u201d and a \u201cmild case of pneumonia.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speculation had swirled in the weeks following his hospitalization, with some reports claiming that the octogenarian senator was \u201cbrain dead\u201d after an apparent heart attack.<\/p>\n

The attempt by McConnell\u2019s team\u2014led by his longtime, camera-shy aide Terry Carmack, who is on track to earn more than $226,000 this year\u2014to put the rumors to rest with a photo and statement has only stoked further scrutiny from both sides of the political spectrum.<\/p>\n
