Elon Musk was a dramatic no-show for a hyped live TV interview on Friday.<\/p>\n

CNBC\u2019s much-touted exclusive interview with the world\u2019s richest person suddenly went up in smoke as SpaceX\u2019s stock dipped 3 percent. <\/p>\n

\u201cFast Money Halftime Report\u201dhost Scott Wapner broke the news about 11 minutes after<\/i> Musk was supposed to show up.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cDo you want to explain to us exactly what happened here?\u201d Wapner asked tech reporter Julia Boorstin, who was all set to interview Musk.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were expecting to start an interview with Elon Musk right now at noon Eastern,\u201d said Boorstin. \u201cWe just got word that he has to postpone. Obviously, it would have been great to talk to him in his first TV interview since SpaceX went public,\u201d she added. <\/p>\n

Boorstin pointed out that SpaceX stock was \u201cwell off its highs since that IPO just a couple of weeks ago.\u201d<\/p>\n

Boorstin was also looking to quiz Musk on Grok 4.5, which launched on Wednesday. <\/p>\n

Musk hasn\u2019t publicly commented on why he ducked the interview. The Daily Beast reached out to him for comment.<\/p>\n

Buyers went bonkers when Musk took his rocket ship company public in June. The launch valued SpaceX at nearly $1.8 trillion\u2014a massive amount for a company that has incurred billions in annual operating losses. The stock surged to a peak of roughly $2.5 trillion in market value before slipping back to near its $135 debut price. <\/p>\n

Many view the company as a landmark, surefire deal, while others are far less certain. High-profile British billionaire investor Jeremy Grantham insisted in an interview after the SpaceX launch that history will end up \u201claughing\u201d at SpaceX, which he blasted as the \u201ccraziest IPO in the history of man.\u201d<\/p>\n

SpaceX touted in its ambitious prospectus before its public debut that the company\u2019s goal is to \u201cbuild the systems and technologies necessary to make life multi-planetary, to understand the true nature of the universe, and to extend the light of consciousness to the stars.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wapner noted on CNBC: \u201cI think investors are having a hard time figuring out how to value this company.\u201d He called SpaceX revenue projections \u201castronomical,\u201d with potential investors wondering how Musk\u2019s company \u201ccan, in fact, reach those targets.\u201d<\/p>\n

Guest Kevin Simpson, founder and chief investment officer of Capital Wealth Planning, conceded: \u201cWe\u2019re down a little bit on it, as most investors are at this point.\u201d<\/p>\n

Investment in the company has been tempting because SpaceX was \u201calmost monopolistic,\u201d said Simpson. But then there\u2019s the wild card of Musk himself, \u201cfor better or worse,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Simpson said he had been looking forward to the planned Musk interview to suss out whether SpaceX and Tesla might merge.<\/p>\n
