{"id":2998,"date":"2026-07-07T10:10:03","date_gmt":"2026-07-07T10:10:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=2998"},"modified":"2026-07-07T10:10:03","modified_gmt":"2026-07-07T10:10:03","slug":"white-house-lays-out-bonkers-examples-for-new-battle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=2998","title":{"rendered":"White House Lays Out Bonkers Examples for New Battle"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>The White House has launched its latest culture-war salvo, this time against one of the country\u2019s most popular museums.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=2997\">Trump\u2019s Weird \u2018Patriotic\u2019 Air Force One Meal Revealed<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The White House Rapid Response account posted a thread accusing the Smithsonian\u2019s National Museum of American History of filling a family institution with what it called \u201csick, explicit content.\u201d The thread was produced alongside a 162-page White House report, compiled by the Domestic Policy Council under former Trump speechwriter Vince Haley, accusing the museum of abandoning objective scholarship in favor of \u201cextreme political activism.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Among the exhibits the White House flagged as objectionable: a \u201ccrotch harness,\u201d a \u201ctrans nonbinary\u201d person\u2019s \u201cchest binder,\u201d and pages from a 6-year-old girl\u2019s diary in which she prays \u201cevery night for my penis to grow.\u201d \u201cThis sick material is sexualizing kids,\u201d the White House wrote.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>It also objected to video clips of drag queens, images of nude women, the iconic 2003 Entertainment Weekly \u201cDixie Chicks Come Clean\u201d cover, and a copy of Girl Germs, a feminist zine created by University of Oregon students in 1990. \u201cA magazine promoting \u2018female masturbation,\u2019\u201d the White House complained, referring to the cover, which features two females in a romantic tangle. <\/p>\n<p>The administration also took issue with the museum\u2019s contextualization of American cultural icons. It objected to descriptions of Mickey Mouse as having ties to the \u201cvestiges of longstanding traditions of blackface minstrelsy,\u201d the ukulele as \u201ca product of U.S. imperialism,\u201d and Wild West shows as turning the \u201csubjugation of Indigenous people into theater.\u201d Cultural historians have long made similar arguments about all three.<\/p>\n<p>The founding of America also came in for complaint. The White House objected to Christopher Columbus being described as a \u201cmurderer,\u201d \u201cslaver,\u201d and \u201cthief,\u201d the Pilgrims being called \u201ccolonizers,\u201d and Thanksgiving being linked to a \u201cNational Day of Mourning.\u201d Historians widely agree that Columbus participated in the enslavement of Indigenous people, the Pilgrims did establish an English colony, and many Indigenous activists have observed a National Day of Mourning on Thanksgiving since 1970.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=2996\">MAGA Demands Proof of Life for Mitch McConnell<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The White House also took aim at the Benjamin Franklin exhibit, complaining that 20 percent of the space was devoted to enslaved people and that visitors were asked whether Franklin conducted electric shock experiments on enslaved people, which it said was done \u201cwith zero evidence.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Franklin did own enslaved people earlier in his life before freeing them and becoming an abolitionist and president of the Pennsylvania Abolition Society. There is no credible historical evidence that he used enslaved people in his electrical experiments, though it is known that he experimented on people generally. <\/p>\n<p>Finally, the administration objected to the museum celebrating Angela Davis, whom it described as \u201ca Marxist who ran for VP as a Communist in 1980\u201d and who \u201ccalled for abolishing police and jails.\u201d Davis was acquitted on all charges following a highly publicized 1972 trial connected to a 1970 courthouse attack. Supporters regard her as a major figure in the civil rights, Black liberation, and feminist movements.<\/p>\n<p>The Smithsonian rejected the White House\u2019s characterization, saying it has served the public through independent, nonpartisan scholarship for more than 180 years. Smithsonian Secretary Lonnie Bunch defended the museum\u2019s role in helping Americans understand the \u201ccomplexity and nuance\u201d of the nation\u2019s history.
