It results in their immediate ejection from the match, an automatic suspension for the next game and leaves the team to continue the game with one player missing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>A yellow card is less serious and results in the player being sent off.<\/p>\n<p>Following Trump\u2019s personal intervention to Infantino, FIFA announced that Balogun would be eligible to play against Belgium on Monday, leading to questions around the integrity of the tournament. On Sunday, Trump thanked FIFA on Truth Social for \u201cdoing what was right, and reversing a great injustice\u201d but did not reveal his involvement.<\/p>\n<p>It is the first time since 1962 that FIFA has overturned a suspension in the World Cup. <\/p>\n<p>Even conservative commentator Piers Morgan flagged it as \u201cthe biggest story, and potential scandal, of the World Cup.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on CNN\u2019s <i>OutFront<\/i> on Monday, host Erin Burnett played Trump\u2019s comment on the incident, where the president referenced Balogun being given a red card.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2018t know what that meant,\u201d Trump said of the red card. \u201cI didn\u2018t think it meant much. Then I started hearing that that means he can\u2018t play in the next game&#8230; All I did was ask for a review.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Burnett noted, \u201cI mean, can we just take a pause to be like, he actually didn\u2018t even know what a red card was, right? So somebody told him about it and, `Oh, I guess I\u2018ll just call my buddy&#8230; who gave me the peace prize.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite Trump\u2019s controversial insertion into the drama, the USA lost to Belgium 4-1 on Monday, ending their World Cup run.<\/p>\n<p>CNN Senior Correspondent Donie O\u2019Sullivan also pointed out Trump\u2019s confusing comments on Monday in the White House.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=2974\">Mitch McConnell\u2019s Neighbor Reveals New Details About Mysterious Health Absence<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Speaking about the incident that got Balogun the red card, Trump said, \u201cI saw the play, and I\u2019m a person that loves sports and was a good athlete. And I understand sports really well. Really well. And that wasn\u2019t a foul. That wasn\u2019t even an infraction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump added, \u201cHe didn\u2019t do anything wrong, and he\u2019s our best player or one of our best players&#8230; And you give him a red card.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Sullivan posted on X, \u201cTrump saying he didn\u2019t know what a red card was &#8212; then proceeding to say it definitely wasn\u2019t a red card.\ud83d\ude02 Not helpful for the US `soccer\u2019 fan stereotype.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Beast has contacted the White House for comment.<\/p>\n<p>During his Monday comments, Trump also seemed not to understand the specifics of being suspended.\u201cIt\u2019s one thing to penalize somebody for the game. But how do you penalize them for a game that hasn\u2019t been played yet? It\u2019s very unfair. You can\u2019t do that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ironically, in August 2018, Infantino gave Trump a personal lesson on what a red card is during a meeting in the White House.<\/p>\n<p>Infantino, who was visiting Trump after he locked in the successful bid for the joint-hosting rights for the 2026 World Cup, pulled out yellow and red cards in front of the president.<\/p>\n<p>Noting the cards \u201ccould be useful\u201d for Trump, Infantino said \u201cin soccer, we have referees&#8230; And they have cards.
