{"id":281,"date":"2026-05-29T20:17:11","date_gmt":"2026-05-29T20:17:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=281"},"modified":"2026-05-29T20:17:11","modified_gmt":"2026-05-29T20:17:11","slug":"judge-humiliates-trump-over-tacky-kennedy-center-takeover","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=281","title":{"rendered":"Judge Humiliates Trump Over Tacky Kennedy Center Takeover"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>A federal judge has dealt a humiliating blow to President Donald Trump\u2019s vanity-driven attempt to attach his name to the Kennedy Center. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=279\">Trump Bought UFC Stock Ahead of White House Cage Fight<\/a><\/p>\n<p>U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper, in a , rejected the president\u2019s name change because he failed to go through Congress, as is required.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cCongress gave the Kennedy Center its name, and only Congress can change it,\u201d Cooper wrote.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Kennedy Center board, which Trump had filled with allies, didn\u2019t do due diligence when approving the name change, Cooper explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Board based its decision on an insufficient, one-sided presentation of information and neglected to consider the full range of its statutory obligations and potential adverse consequences of closure,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Also on Friday, Cooper  that the Kennedy Center not be shut down by July 5, which Trump had planned on doing, citing repairs and restorations.<\/p>\n<p>The case was brought by Democratic Rep. Joyce Beatty of Ohio, an ex officio member of the board.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn scenes more reminiscent of authoritarian regimes than the American republic\u2014the sitting President and his handpicked loyalists renamed this storied center,\u201d her lawsuit said. \u201cThis is a flagrant violation of the rule of law, and it flies in the face of our constitutional order.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=277\">Trump\u2019s Key Policy Is Wrecking the U.S. Economy<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The 1964 law naming the performing arts center after Kennedy designated it the \u201csole memorial\u201d to him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCongress was particularly sensitive that no other names appear on the Center\u2019s exterior walls, other than the signage designating the institution as a memorial for President Kennedy,\u201d Beatty\u2019s motion said.<\/p>\n<p>Beatty praised Friday\u2019s ruling. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s ruling rightly affirms that this administration\u2019s efforts to rename and close the Center have no basis in law,\u201d she said in a statement. \u201cThe Kennedy Center is an institution that belongs to the American people, not to Donald Trump. He has desecrated this sacred memorial for his own vanity.
