Its 26-year-old lead, she added, was the \u201cweird, short girl with the very strange look.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re over the forced-upon-us girlboss era. It\u2019s not authentic. It\u2019s not organic. We\u2019re no longer buying it,\u201d Kelly said. \u201cIt\u2019s not that women can\u2019t be empowered and fierce and all the great things. It\u2019s just, stop forcing it on us in the form of <i>Supergirl<\/i>.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Alcock, Kelly then said, \u201ccreated problems for herself\u201d with comments she had made about her time on <i>Game of Thrones<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly dismissively quoted an interview Alcock gave to Vanity Fair in which she said, \u201cThat experience definitely made me aware that simply existing as a woman in that space is something that people comment on. We have become very comfortable having this weird ownership of women\u2019s bodies. I can\u2019t really stop them. I can only be myself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kelly denigrated Alcock\u2019s role.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou were in light porn. <i>Game of Thrones<\/i>&#8230; is soft porn. Who does she think she\u2019s kidding?\u201d Kelly said.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly also criticized Alcock for how she responded to those who criticized her earlier comment, quoting her with the same dismissive tone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t even say \u2018men\u2019 \u2014 I said \u2018people!\u2019\u201d Alcock told Variety. \u201cAnd they got so angry. I was like, \u2018You\u2019re proving my point. Or someone\u2019s name and then \u2018Dad of four, Christian,\u2019 which is hilarious to me. But I mean, whose opinion do you really care about? If you\u2019re p&#8212;ing the right kind of people off, you\u2019re doing OK.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kelly, who relished how <i>Supergirl<\/i> garnered generally subpar reviews and a poor weekend box office debut, took issue with how the movie\u2019s plot doesn\u2019t have a male love interest for the title character\u2014something Alcock had commended.<\/p>\n<p>The actress told Variety, \u201cI love how this film doesn\u2019t center around any sort of love, you know? It doesn\u2019t center around romance or anything like that at all, and she has such resilience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alcock added the LGBTQ community is also \u201cso resilient\u201d and therefore could relate to Supergirl.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly was livid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, you can\u2019t center around a love relationship\u2026 because that would be offensive and obviously disempowering. If you are in a love relationship with a man, as a woman, it\u2019s disempowering to your superhero narrative.
