Madeleine Dean took part in the call with Witkoff and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, which she said was based around Trump\u2019s vague 14-point memorandum of understanding with Iran. This was supposed to end the war, but has led to renewed tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Trump, 80, appointed his longtime friend Witkoff, 69, a former real estate investor, as Special Envoy to the Middle East, despite his lack of diplomatic experience. Trump\u2019s son-in-law Jared Kushner has worked with Witkoff.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>In Monday\u2019s fiery call, Dean also questioned Witkoff about his dual roles as a businessman and diplomatic envoy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe didn\u2019t learn much of anything,\u201d Dean said about the call on MS NOW\u2019s <i>The Last Word<\/i> on Monday\u2014at least as far as America\u2019s current relations with Iran are concerned.<\/p>\n<p>Dean said that her direct questions to Witkoff piqued his ire.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe cut my mic off and\u2026 he called my question \u2018smarta&#8211;ed\u2019 and \u2018stupid,\u2019 cut my mic off and said, \u2018There\u2019s your answer\u2019,\u201d Dean said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was simply asking tough questions about who wrote the MOU, why does it sound so in favor of Iran? And from literally paragraph one, we\u2019re already out of sync with what was to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As well as being vague about what Iran can do with its remaining uranium, which is used to make nuclear weapons, and offering the country access to a $300 billion reconstruction fund, the MOU states that Iran agreed to use its \u201cbest efforts for the safe passage of commercial vessels with no charge for 60 days.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, renewed attacks by both sides have threatened any ceasefire deal.<\/p>\n<p>During her interview with guest host Jonathan Capehart, Dean said she called Trump\u2019s war with Iran \u201creckless\u201d and \u201cunconstitutional,\u201d while speaking to the Republicans on the call, and reminded them that 13 U.S. service members had been killed since the president started his war on Feb. 28.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must never forget that,\u201d Dean said. \u201cHundreds have been wounded and thousands of civilians killed throughout the region. But he [Witkoff] called me \u2018smarta&#8211;ed,\u2019 \u2018stupid.\u2019 I think this diplomat or would-be diplomat\u2019s been hanging around the president too much.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=2528\">Stephen Miller Melts Down at SCOTUS Justices After Crushing Loss<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Capeheart asked Dean if anyone objected to Witkoff\u2019s language during the call, with the Democrat saying on a \u201cchain for members\u201d her colleagues were \u201coutraged, said it\u2019s unacceptable, disrespectful.\u201d Dean said her colleagues pointed out she was \u201csimply asking tough questions\u201d of Witkoff.<\/p>\n<p>Dean said during the intense call she also asked Witkoff, \u201cHow much of your work in the region is for the United States of America and resolving these issues, and how much of your time is being spent on your own ventures?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added, \u201cThat, I think, really ticked them off. And that\u2019s when I got cut off. As I said, they cut off my mic. They had not done that to other people. And so I didn\u2019t get to have a rebuttal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Capeheart then asked Dean whether she believed, if Democrats regain the majority after November\u2019s elections, that Witkoff\u2019s dealings in his dual role as envoy could be investigated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh, I\u2019m sure we will,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m sure that it is a responsible oversight [committee] that we will do. You\u2019ve seen the recent reporting around Mr. Lutnick and Mr. Trump and their sons. We have to have oversight into the corruption, the cruelty, the rubble, and the rot that is this administration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Democrat noted that she had just come from a bipartisan dinner at the Qatar embassy, where officials from Qatar, Oman, and Saudi Arabia discussed \u201cthe change in the region\u201d as a result of Trump\u2019s war with Iran.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey, to a person, said, \u2018We don\u2019t want to look back. We are where we are, but we want to be responsible partners for peace, responsible partners around Israel\u2019,\u201d Dean told MS NOW.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Dean said she was told they want to work with the contents of the MOU to get the Strait of Hormuz open, and agreed that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo it was a jarring contrast,\u201d she noted. \u201cI\u2019m talking with literally our alleged envoy and diplomat. They were not diplomatic with us. They were not forthcoming with us.
