you get what you get,\u201d wrote radio host Todd Starnes on X.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Trump and his base moved heaven and earth (to) confirm Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court,\u201d added conservative news outlet Town Hall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmy Coney Barrett was supposed to be the safe pick,\u201d said MAGA supporter Stacey Gerbers, claiming that \u201ccounting ballots after Election Day is not justice, it is an invitation to fraud.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Florida congressional candidate Mark Kaye was less diplomatic, writing: \u201cAmy Coney Barrett is the legal equivalent of Shingles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The ruling marks the latest flashpoint between Barrett\u2014who was nominated by President Donald Trump in 2020\u2014and segments of Trump\u2019s political base, which has grown increasingly frustrated with her.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, for instance, Barrett, Roberts and fellow Trump nominee Neil Gorsuch joined the liberal justices to strike down Trump\u2019s signature tariff policy &#8211; a move that continues to outrage the president to this day.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, she also voted to reject Trump\u2019s attempt to freeze nearly $2 billion in foreign aid, prompting legal commentator Mike Davis to declare on Steve Bannon\u2019s podcast, \u201cShe\u2019s a rattled law professor with her head up her a&#8211;.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=2482\">MAGA Ambassador Melts Down at Katy Perry for Embarrassing Trump<\/a><\/p>\n<p>But speaking in DC to promote her book last year, the conservative justice clapped back at the criticism.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo do this job, you have to be willing to be unpopular,\u201d the 53-year-old said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a little bit of an element of loneliness because you never know who is going to criticize you and who is not,\u201d she added. \u201cBut the job is to tune it out and do the right thing anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The case challenged Mississippi\u2019s law allowing absentee ballots postmarked on or before Election Day to be counted if they arrive within five business days. <\/p>\n<p>Republican officials argued that federal law establishing a uniform Election Day requires ballots to be received\u2014not merely cast\u2014by Election Day.<\/p>\n<p>The majority rejected that interpretation, preserving Mississippi\u2019s law and similar ballot receipt deadlines used in numerous other states ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit was backed by the Republican National Committee and aligned with Trump\u2019s long-running criticism of mail voting. <\/p>\n<p>Trump has repeatedly claimed mail ballots are rigged even though he has voted by mail himself, and despite courts, and election officials finding no evidence of widespread fraud on a scale capable of changing the outcome of a national election.<\/p>\n<p>Election officials had warned that striking down postmark grace periods would have disrupted established election procedures and disproportionately affected military and overseas voters, whose ballots often cannot physically arrive by Election Day despite being mailed on time.<\/p>\n<p>Barrett was joined by Roberts and Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson. <\/p>\n<p>The dissent was written by Justice Samuel Alito and joined by Justices Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf ballots received after election day are added to the set of ballots that dictate the election\u2019s outcome, the electorate\u2019s choice does not occur on election day,\u201d Alito wrote. <\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cThe acceptance of these late-arriving ballots effectively postpones the date on which the electorate\u2019s choice is made.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=2480\">Republicans Freak Out Over Trump\u2019s Nomination Problem<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MAGA world has erupted in fury at Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett after the Trump appointee helped thwart the president\u2019s bid to change election rules.
