{"id":2463,"date":"2026-06-29T09:39:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-29T09:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=2463"},"modified":"2026-06-29T09:39:00","modified_gmt":"2026-06-29T09:39:00","slug":"maher-offers-trump-brutal-advice-to-avoid-being-mocked","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=2463","title":{"rendered":"Maher Offers Trump Brutal Advice to Avoid Being Mocked"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>ComedianBill Maher has offered free advice for politicians, including President Donald Trump, on how to deal with being mocked.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=2461\">Fox News Megastar Forced to Read Humiliating Apology<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Maher, 71, received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor on Sunday for his storied career in comedy, and praised his own ability to appeal to a politically diverse audience.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The comedian has had a complicated relationship with the president, with the pair swapping insults on TV (Maher) and social media (Trump), after Maher was invited to the White House last year for dinner.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The meal was arranged by MAGA rapper Kid Rock, with Maher saying on his HBO show <i>Real Time<\/i>, they both believe \u201cthere has to be something better than hurling insults from 3,000 miles away.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Afterward, Maher said, \u201cTrump was gracious and measured, and why isn\u2019t he that in other settings?\u201d Maher also got the president to sign a printed sheet listing 60 insulting remarks he had made about Maher over the years.<\/p>\n<p>While Trump did not attend Maher\u2019s award ceremony at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday, he was personally name-checked during the comedian\u2019s remarks on political jokes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow the president, when he is in attack mode, never fails to say I am part of the lunatic left,\u201d Maher said, as reported by Deadline. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOkay, he\u2019s not wrong that there is one. I\u2019m just not part of it, and I\u2019m sure there is a lunatic right. And when either side gets mad at me because I put them in jokes, jokes that work, my message to them is simple: You want to not get mocked? Stop being funny.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cWhen they are ridiculous, they do work, and when people laugh, you\u2019re caught. Laughter is involuntary. It\u2019s people\u2019s inescapable truth detector, whether they want to believe it or not.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During her appearance at the Kennedy Center, comedian Whitney Cummings referenced Maher\u2019s dinner at the White House, which also included UFC CEO Dana White, joking, \u201cSeeing Dana White, Donald Trump, and Kid Rock all together at the White House really proves there is no God.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This year, Maher called out Trump\u2019s UFC birthday bash, stating, \u201cOur redneck president is turning 80, and to celebrate there is a UFC fight on the [White House] lawn. So the emperor is holding gladiator games on his birthday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He has also compared Trump\u2019s slamming his TV ratings to the president\u2019s sinking approval ratings and said he has done \u201cthings that are racist, misogynistic, anti-democratic and corrupt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=2459\">Trump Unveils Deranged Painting in Late-Night Posting Spree<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Trump, in return, called Maher \u201ca weak and ineffective person\u201d as well as a \u201cmoron\u201d and \u201cpathetic.\u201d In a lengthy rant in February, he called Maher a \u201clightweight\u201d and \u201cANTI TRUMP,\u201d then dismissed their dinner, saying it was \u201ca total waste of time for me to have this jerk at the White House.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of his award, Maher was interviewed on the red carpet by CNN and was asked about Trump\u2019s recent Truth Social posts about him. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe last 4 or 5 times\u2026 it\u2018s all back to yelling and screaming. I\u2018m terrible. I\u2018m a lunatic liberal. I\u2018m a lunatic. I\u2018m a lightweight. I\u2018m a jerk. So we\u2018re back to that. It\u2018s OK,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Maher added, \u201cI would rather be still talking than the politics of, `You don\u2018t even exist. You\u2018re too deplorable even to acknowledge.\u2019 I\u2018d rather be fighting and yelling\u2026 that\u2018s just his way of talking to people. You know, you just have to accept it. I\u2018d rather the channels be open, anything is better than channels just being shut off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During his speech, Maher also called out the left\u2019s attempt to censor Mark Twain\u2019s <i>Adventures of Huckleberry Finn<\/i> for containing racist language, saying the classic book was in \u201cthe service of mocking racism.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe silly purists on the left want to ban it now, which just shows that if you hang around long enough and create something important enough, everyone hates you at some point, and that is when you know you are doing it right,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The comedian also used his award to reflect on his audience, who, he said, was different to most. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople say they want honesty, they don\u2019t. They want to live in a bubble. They say they want to be challenged. They don\u2019t, except for my audience. They love it, and I love them for it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Maher said he believes that makes his audience \u201cbetter\u201d than others, and that he does not ask what will please them, but what is true, which they are OK with.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are a unique group of people who do not demand to be pandered to, and in fact, want me not to do that,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd it has been the honor of a lifetime to try and lead a backlash to groupthink.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><i>Obsessed with pop culture and entertainment?
