{"id":2424,"date":"2026-06-28T19:08:43","date_gmt":"2026-06-28T19:08:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=2424"},"modified":"2026-06-28T19:08:43","modified_gmt":"2026-06-28T19:08:43","slug":"how-trump-is-making-our-birthday-a-big-bummer-jon-lovett","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=2424","title":{"rendered":"How Trump Is Making Our Birthday a \u2018Big Bummer\u2019: Jon Lovett"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>President Donald Trump has turned what could have been a rare moment to celebrate the country\u2019s 250th anniversary into another display of his own ego, former Obama speechwriter Jon Lovett said.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=2422\">Trump, 80, Spotted on Rainy Day Outing With Blonde Aide, 34<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Speaking on <i>The Daily Beast Podcast <\/i>with host Joanna Coles, Lovett, host of <i>Pod Save America<\/i>, explained that Congress had created the nonpartisan America 250 to celebrate the occasion, but Trump hijacked it by creating \u201chis own competing group called Freedom 250\u2033 which \u201cpoliticizes America\u2019s Independence Day.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>He lamented the \u201cFreedom 250\u201d kickoff event, which featured a partisan MAGA speech from Trump, a performance from FBI Director Kash Patel\u2019s girlfriend, amateur country music singer Alexis Wilkins, and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy using the word \u201clibtard\u201d to describe musicians who declined to perform at the Trumpy event.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cI do think it\u2019s worth taking a moment to say, wow, like, okay, these are all the ways in which Trump has made this about him and made it worse,\u201d Lovett said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat about the alarm that\u2019s not going off about how great it could have been to have literally any other president at this moment to have a big, unifying, patriotic event that would have been across the whole country?\u201d he said, adding, \u201cWhat a great shame it is that we have this kind of depraved person in charge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lovett, a Democrat, explained that he believed if another Republican were president, \u201csome aspects of what they would have done for America\u2019s 250th would have probably annoyed me,\u201d adding that a Democratic administration\u2019s celebrations would have had parts that would have \u201cannoyed Republicans.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=2420\">Trump Goons Secretly Trash His Sons\u2019 Latest Grift<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Still, he noted that they would have \u201ctaken the responsibility of representing the whole country seriously to understand that this wasn\u2019t just about them or their political prerogatives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a rare moment where you could have actually had a beautiful, like American patriotic celebration. I\u2019ll be cringe and say that I\u2019m sad that we don\u2019t get to have that,\u201d he said. \u201cBut instead, we have this ridiculous, incompetent boob.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Listing off several of the failures of the \u201cGreat American State Fair,\u201d Lovett said, \u201cThe Ferris wheel isn\u2019t working. The Reflecting Pool is green, the ice cream is melting, nobody\u2019s showing up. States feel like they should cancel and they\u2019re right to do so. Nobody wants to be associated with this guy. And it\u2019s just a big bummer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I know it\u2019s just a party and we got bigger fish to fry, but I do think it\u2019s okay to take a moment and say, you know what?
