The idea that it would have taken down a presidency is crazy,\u201d Vance stated.<\/p>\n<p>He then made the bold claim, \u201cIf you look at the story of how the deep state took down Richard Nixon, it\u2019s not all that different from what the same groups of people, the same institutions tried to do to Donald Trump in the first Trump administration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Vance also compared himself to the 37th president, whom he called a \u201cpolitical genius.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYoung senator, vice president, writes some bestselling books, is hated by the media,\u201d he said. \u201cIt kind of sounds like JD Vance. I\u2019ve always liked Richard Nixon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nixon died in 1994 at the age of 81, four days after suffering a major stroke.<\/p>\n<p>Vance\u2019s comments blew up online on Thursday, as footage of his remarks was shared on social media.<\/p>\n<p><i>Pod Save America<\/i> host Tommy Vietor pointed out some of the crimes exposed by the journalists who uncovered the Watergate scandal.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=2246\">Judge Corners DOJ Over Covering Up Files on Trump\u2019s 13-Year-Old Accuser<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThanks to Watergate, we know that Nixon\u2019s staff broke into his political opponent\u2019s HQ &amp; Ellsberg\u2019s psychiatrist\u2019s office, and that Nixon himself approved obstructing justice to cover these crimes up, tried to use the IRS to punish enemies, and was cool with breaking finance law,\u201d Vietor posted on X.<\/p>\n<p>He added that Vance \u201csold his soul for power so it\u2019s not remotely surprising that he is now fine with all of this stuff!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One X user said Vance was \u201cvice-signaling,\u201d adding that, \u201cPoliticians used to signal virtue, now they just signal vice. They signal how much they\u2019ll hurt the other side.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Award-winning crime author Don Winslow said Vance\u2019s comments were \u201cSo. F&#8212;ing. Revealing.,\u201d while comedian Stacy Cay noted, \u201cThe joke is that they\u2019re doing so many crimes now that nobody would care about Nixon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Beast has contacted the White Houseand Vance\u2019s office for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Vance has already had an awkward week online, after a cringeworthy exchange with his pregnant wife, Usha, 40, also went viral.<\/p>\n<p>The couple appeared on a Father\u2019s Day special of <i>Storytime with the Second Lady<\/i>, where Vance gingerly tapped his wife\u2019s knee twice after she introduced him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe face Usha Vance makes when JD touches her knee is a cry for help if I\u2019ve ever seen one,\u201d Democratic strategist Mike Nellis said on X.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cHoly s&#8211;t.
