{"id":1930,"date":"2026-06-21T20:39:35","date_gmt":"2026-06-21T20:39:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=1930"},"modified":"2026-06-21T20:39:35","modified_gmt":"2026-06-21T20:39:35","slug":"comedian-makes-dire-prediction-for-americas-next-chapter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=1930","title":{"rendered":"Comedian Makes Dire Prediction for America\u2019s Next Chapter"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>Comedian Akilah Hughes has a bleak forecast for where America is headed under Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=1928\">Trump\u2019s Niece Says Uncle\u2019s Decline Is \u2018Impossible to Hide\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The 80-year-old president has embraced the nation\u2019s upcoming 250th birthday with gusto, kicking off the celebrations with a UFC cage fight spectacle at the White House last week. <\/p>\n<div>\n<p>But Hughes, host of the <i>How Is This Better?<\/i> podcast, predicted Sunday that the United States won\u2019t last to celebrate its 500th birthday during an appearance on the new MS NOW show <i>Connect with Jacob Soboroff<\/i>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think America is making it to 500, if we\u2019re on the same trajectory,\u201d she said. \u201cYou know, 250 was a stretch.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh,\u201d Soboroff let out before he chuckled. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t see it happening,\u201d Hughes continued. \u201cWe have a concerted effort from the current administration to forget about history, to you know, sort of destroy public education, to destroy public works, to privatize everything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added, \u201cAnd if we know one thing about corporations, you know, in the long term, they are not giving back to the people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hughes, who formerly co-hosted the Crooked Media podcast <i>What a Day, <\/i>noted that America is a \u201cvery young democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=1926\">Judge Jeanine Pushes Trump\u2019s Bonkers Algae Sabotage Fantasy<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are so many other countries that have come and gone, and I don\u2019t know why we believe we are immune to that,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<p>Her gloomy outlook is shared by a sizable chunk of the country.<\/p>\n<p>A Reuters\/Ipsos poll released last week found that 38 percent of Americans, nearly two-fifths of the population, don\u2019t believe the U.S. will exist by its 500th anniversary.<\/p>\n<p>Broken down by party affiliation, 26 percent of Republicans and 40 percent of Democrats don\u2019t think that the U.S. will be a united country in the year 2276. Independents were the most pessimistic, with 46 percent believing that the U.S. won\u2019t exist in 250 years.<\/p>\n<p>Americans expressed even greater anxiety about whether democracy can survive the coming years. Two-thirds of respondents\u2014including 85 percent of Democrats and \u200c50 percent of \u2060Republicans\u2014said American democracy was at risk of failing, up from 57 percent in a poll conducted in August of last year. <\/p>\n<p>Hughes said that young Americans in particular have \u201cjust no hope for the future.\u201d She recalled attending a party for a friend\u2019s 3-month-old baby where guests struggled to imagine the child\u2019s future beyond working at a data center or becoming a plumber.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just a real pessimistic time in this country,\u201d adding, \u201cAt least we can all laugh about it.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=1924\">White House Locks Down Vance Video Before Critics Pile On<\/a><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/article>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Comedian Akilah Hughes has a bleak forecast for where America is headed under Donald Trump.
