{"id":1860,"date":"2026-06-20T13:10:01","date_gmt":"2026-06-20T13:10:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=1860"},"modified":"2026-06-20T13:10:01","modified_gmt":"2026-06-20T13:10:01","slug":"millionaire-godfather-of-tech-50-dies-in-tragic-plane-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=1860","title":{"rendered":"Millionaire \u2018Godfather\u2019 of Tech, 50, Dies in Tragic Plane Crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>The tech world has lost one of its giants.<\/p>\n<p>Capital Factory CEO and \u201cAustinprenuer\u201d Joshua Baer died Tuesday night in a plane crash. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=1858\">Tourist, 18, Dies in Central Park Horse Carriage Horror<\/a><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Described as the \u201cgodfather\u201d of Austin\u2019s startup scene, Baer founded Capital Factory, a venture firm that backs Texas-based businesses. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Local air traffic controllers reported to officers just before 10 p.m. Tuesday that \u201cthey had an aircraft that was in trouble,\u201d and \u201chad lost communication with the aircraft,\u201d according to investigator Jose Baeza with the Laredo Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>Baer\u2019s flight took off from Los Cabos International Airport in Mexico and was bound for Austin when it crashed onto Texas State Highway Loop 20 in Laredo, just a few miles short of its emergency location. <\/p>\n<p>In a statement to The Guardian, Laredo Airport officials said that the plane, a private jet owned by Warren Buffett\u2019s company, NetJets, was attempting to divert to the airport for an emergency landing when it crashed, striking a passenger vehicle on the road.<\/p>\n<p>The statement also said that the flight\u2019s \u201cremaining five occupants, along with the driver of the affected vehicle, were transported to local hospitals and are reported to be in stable condition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The other flight members were two pilots and three teenagers, one of whom was Baer\u2019s son. Laredo police later confirmed that the other victims have been discharged from the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Aviation expert Mike Slack confirmed that the incident, though tragic, could have been much worse.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=1856\">Apple Boss Warns \u2018Unavoidable\u2019 Price Rises Are Coming<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey hit an automobile, but more importantly, that concrete barrier that they hit could have opened the side of those fuel tanks up completely,\u201d said Slack.<\/p>\n<p>Baer\u2019s company\u2019s website describes it as \u201cthe most active early-stage investor backing America\u2019s most ambitious founders\u201d and lists Elon Musk\u2019s SpaceX in its portfolio.<\/p>\n<p>Capital Factory president Bryan Chambers called Baer, 50, \u201ca brilliant partner and a dear friend.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Tributes poured in from across the tech and business worlds, including from podcast host Jason Calacanis. \u201cJoshua was a relentless supporter of founders and Austin, and was filled with joy,\u201d Calacanis wrote on X.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>NetJets has declined to comment further or speculate on the cause of the accident, as stated on its website.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The tech legend is survived by his three children and his wife, Amy, with whom he founded the Baer Family Foundation, a philanthropic organization.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=1854\">Shocking Reason Why \u2018Police Academy\u2019 Reboot Never Happened<\/a><\/p>\n<\/article>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The tech world has lost one of its giants.
