This is top of his agenda,\u201d Wolff told co-host Joanna Coles, citing sources inside the White House. \u201cThis is taking more time within the White House than any other issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThis is more important than the war. This is more important than immigration. This is more important than\u2026 the midterms, and thinking about that,\u201d he continued. \u201cThis is his primary focus\u2014what I can do for Washington. Washington is the legacy that I leave.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>\u201cAnd it\u2019s curious because Donald Trump doesn\u2019t think about legacy in the way that other presidents do,\u201d Wolff added. \u201cAnd you might conclude that, therefore, he doesn\u2019t think about legacy\u2014that is, the legacy in the law, the legacy in the structure of government&#8230; legacy as an abstraction.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, what he does is think about this, is legacy in concrete\u2014\u2018I am going to change things\u2026 I am going to create a physical change here.\u2019 And it\u2019s a particular Trumpian response.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since entering office for his second presidential term, Trump has prioritized several efforts to leave a physical mark across the District.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Aside from physically demolishing the entire East Wing of the White House to make room for his $600 million ballroom\u2014which contractor records obtained by The Washington Post reveal is, in fact, partially funded by taxpayers\u2014Trump tried to permanently attach his name to the historic John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.<\/p>\n<p>However, federal judges shut down the president\u2019s brazen attempt to plaster his name on the venue, which is a memorial to the assassinated President John F. However, permanent scaffolding has been erected to hide the humiliating removal of Trump\u2019s name from the facade.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s him imposing himself. He\u2019s inescapable, unignorable, ubiquitous,\u201d Wolff explained. \u201cHe will\u2014in his mind now, he is creating a Washington that will forever\u2026 or at least, for the next decades or 100 years, evoke his name. \u2018Donald Trump. I was here. No one will ever forget that I was here.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reached for comment, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung sent the Daily Beast a frequently recycled statement: \u201cMichael Wolff is a lying sack of s&#8211;t and has been proven to be a fraud. He routinely fabricates stories originating from his sick and warped imagination, only possible because he has a severe and debilitating case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has rotted his peanut-sized brain.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is central to him. This is what is in his head now,\u201d Wolff said. \u201c\u2018I have less than two and a half years in order to accomplish this, and we are going to spend a good part of every day in this White House addressing this.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd the efforts of his opponents and the caretakers of Washington to frustrate this, to slow it, to impede it, to deprive him of his\u2014this right to put his name on everything\u2026\u201d he added. \u201cThese are significant political issues for him. More significant, in fact, than the war in Iran.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump finally put his 110-day war with Iran on pause on Wednesday after he signed a memorandum of understanding with the Middle Eastern foe during a visit to France\u2019s Palace of Versailles\u2014once the home of Louis XVI, the king of France who was toppled by a popular revolution.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the war that the president started nearly four months ago, 13 service members were killed, and hundreds more were injured.
