A U.S. official told the Daily Beast that the actions were \u201cmeasured, purely defensive, and intended to maintain\u201d the shaky ceasefire that has been in place since last month.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Tehran warned that further aggression from the U.S. would provoke a \u201cmore decisive\u201d response and said responsibility would lie with the \u201caggressor,\u201d via Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>The escalation in the Middle East conflict came just hours after Trump attempted to suggest that Iran was eager to strike a deal to end the war.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIran is very much intent, they very much want to make a deal. So far, they haven\u2019t gotten there, we\u2019re not satisfied with it, but we will be,\u201d Trump said during a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday. \u201cEither that, or we\u2019ll have to just finish the job.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump also claimed that Iran wants to make a deal because it is \u201cnegotiating on fumes\u201d and is \u201cstarting to give us the things that they have to give us,\u201d without elaborating.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd if they do, that\u2019s great, and if they won\u2019t, then the man on my left is going to finish them off,\u201d Trump added, referring to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=163\">Pam Bondi Slapped With Scathing Ethics Complaint<\/a><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>The U.S. has said that any agreement with Iran to end the war and reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz shipping route must include a pledge from Tehran to end its nuclear program and abandon any effort to obtain a nuclear weapon.<\/p>\n<p>Iranian state TV reported that a draft agreement between the two countries included the withdrawal of U.S. forces from the region and the release of $20 billion in frozen Iranian funds.<\/p>\n<p>The White House dismissed the apparent proposal as a \u201ccomplete fabrication,\u201d adding that \u201cnobody should believe what Iranian state media is putting out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump has long made contradictory statements about the war in Iran, including repeatedly claiming that the now three-month conflict would end \u201cany day now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere during Wednesday\u2019s Cabinet meeting, Trump rejected the idea that the U.S. is more desperate than Iran to quickly reach a deal as the deeply unpopular war will hurt Republicans in November\u2019s midterm elections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey thought they were going to outwait me, you know, \u2018we\u2019ll outwait him, he\u2019s got the midterms,\u2019\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t care about the midterms; look what happened last night, that was the prelude to the midterms,\u201d he added, referring to his endorsed candidate Ken Paxton defeating Sen.
