But no, that would be when I pulled an all-nighter on Monday reading <i>Communion<\/i>.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Hogan has a litany of issues with <i>Communion<\/i>, which totals 304 pages and was promoted by Vance in a messy media blitz this week. Namely, she could not believe \u201chow much he could say about Usha without saying anything at all,\u201d referring to the second lady. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cVance came to fame on his <i>writing talent<\/i>, and all he could muster to describe his wife of 12 years were \u2018beauty\u2019 and \u2018intelligence.\u2019 JD, ask ChatGPT for some synonyms! Be romantic!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She continued, \u201cHe also writes at length about his endless curiosity toward the Second Lady before admitting he didn\u2019t know she speaks German until they literally took a trip to Germany together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hogan writes that Vance appeared desperate to portray Usha as being as happy in their marriage and place in American politics as he is.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the book has one goal, it\u2019s to get ahead of the rumors that he ruined Usha\u2019s life (as if ruining your wife\u2019s life isn\u2019t basically a prerequisite to becoming a world leader),\u201d Hogan writes. \u201cVance <i>badly <\/i>wants the reader to know that Usha is <i>totally fine <\/i>with her choices\u2014namely, quitting her high-powered law job because of his career\u2014because she was <i>never that ambitious <\/i>to begin with.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hogan continued, \u201cIn his exact words, she has \u2018the biggest mismatch between ambition and ability of any person I\u2019ve ever met.\u2019 He adds that while in law school, her dream job was creating educational programming for kids, which is (a) why most people go to Yale Law School, obviously, and (b) suspiciously close to what she does as second lady.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=1640\">Trump\u2019s Disastrous Response to Flesh-Eating Parasite Crisis Revealed<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Vance, 41, also made it clear that Usha, 40, washappy to move to Ohio, loved his conversion to Catholicism at 35, and said that she is the one who wanted another baby after previously saying she did not.<\/p>\n<p>Issues with the book\u2014which has a rating of 1.27 stars out of five on Goodreads thus far\u2014go beyond Usha, however. Hogan writes that \u201cVance\u2019s hypocrisy alone makes <i>Communion <\/i>nearly unreadable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou don\u2019t need me to tell you this, but he is not a good Catholic,\u201d Hogan writes. \u201cA good Catholic would never support Trump\u2019s hateful immigration policies, cruel Medicaid cuts, hatred toward trans children, and unnecessary foreign wars.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She adds, \u201cThe first half of his book would be a reasonable critique of American hustle culture, of the pursuit of prestige and external validation above all else, if it came from a different author. But I\u2019ve never encountered anyone thirstier for external validation than Vance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This hypocrisy, including his flip-flopping to go from saying President Donald Trump may be \u201cAmerica\u2019s Hitler\u201d to now being his No. 1 defender, was also not lost upon Journal columnist Barton Swaim, who wrote that the book suffers from \u201cegregious sloppiness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hypocrisy was present within <i>Communion<\/i> itself, according to Swaim. <\/p>\n<p>Vance writes in the second chapter that economic policies like minimum-wage laws are more complex than they appear and warrant humility. By the book\u2019s 11th chapter, Swaim writes that the VP abandons that nuance to attack free-market economics using oversimplified caricatures.<\/p>\n<p>Other portions\u2014like taking away the wrong point from a paper about parental leave\u2014left Swaim stunned and questioning where things went wrong for Vance in his second book, which was published a decade after his first, <i>Hillbilly Elegy<\/i>, was a best-seller that was adapted into a movie.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cWhether Mr. Vance\u2019s error arose from laziness or dishonesty or something else, I don\u2019t know, but alas it typifies the low regard he has for people who profess views he dislikes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=1638\">CNN Reveals How Badly Trump Botched His Vanity Project<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vice President JD Vance has already been hit with a flurry of damning reviews for his new book.
