{"id":159,"date":"2026-05-28T08:38:00","date_gmt":"2026-05-28T08:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=159"},"modified":"2026-05-28T08:38:00","modified_gmt":"2026-05-28T08:38:00","slug":"trump-friendly-music-event-starts-falling-apart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=159","title":{"rendered":"Trump-Friendly Music Event Starts Falling Apart"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>Two musical acts have already distanced themselves from the decidedly D-list and Trump-friendly Great American State Fair.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=157\">Katie Miller Melts Down After Democrats Call Her Husband Ugly<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The free event, which will take place on the National Mall on June 27, will be part of the extended celebrations for America\u2019s 250th birthday.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cThe Great American State Fair will bring together people from all 56 states and territories to celebrate the traditions, innovation, music, military heritage, freedom and entrepreneurial spirit that define our nation,\u201d Freedom 250 CEO Keith Krach said in a statement announcing the lineup.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Krach said the performers chosen \u201crepresent the very best of who we are, and the boundless opportunity ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, the talent pool was drawn mainly from heritage acts without a hit in decades, many of which are not currently touring with their original lineup or have key members who have died. <\/p>\n<p>The bill includes rappers Vanilla Ice, and Flo Rida, as well as country singer Martina McBride and Poison frontman Bret Michaels.<\/p>\n<p>Michaels won the third season of Trump-hosted <i>The Celebrity Apprentice <\/i>in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Also included were controversial lip-synching duo Milli Vanilli (original member Rob Pilatus died in 1998, with Fab Morvan now fronting the act), Lionel Richie\u2019s old band The Commodores, and dance act C+C Music Factory, fronted by Freedom Williams. Original member David Cole died in 1995.<\/p>\n<p>However, Rapper Young MC, who had a hit in 1989 with \u201cBust a Move,\u201d has already announced that he is leaving the bill, citing issues with the event\u2019s presidential link.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI HAVE INFORMED MY AGENTS THAT I WILL NOT BE PERFORMING AT THE FREEDOM 250 EVENT,\u201d he posted on Instagram on Wednesday. \u201cThe artists were never told about any political involvement with the event. And despite the claims by the organizers that the event is non-partisan, <i>SPIN <\/i>magazine describes it as Trump-backed. I hope to perform in D.C. in the near future at an event that is not so politically charged.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Morris Day and the Time, who were aligned with Prince and appear in <i>Purple Rain<\/i>, claimed that the \u201crumor\u201d they were on the bill was not true.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/nationwideinterstatemovers.com\/?p=155\">Trump, 79, Desperately Tries to Cover Bruised Hand After Hospital Trip<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a no from me,\u201d Day posted on social media, withdrawing from the bill.<\/p>\n<p>The Time formed in Minneapolis in 1981 and had hits with \u201cJungle Love\u201d and \u201c777-9311\u2033. As well as frontman Morris Day, the band featured Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, who went on to become songwriters and producers behind hits for Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Boyz II Men, Usher, and Mariah Carey.<\/p>\n<p>Fans were relieved by Day\u2019s post, with one writing, \u201cThank you. I just let out the biggest exhale,\u201d and another stating, \u201cWe all know you have better sense than that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, C+C Music Factory frontman Williams revealed in an explicit Instagram post that his agent had not informed him the event had links to Trump when he was booked three months ago, but that he will still perform.<\/p>\n<p>Williams told fans in a seven-minute video message he had been getting messages asking why he was \u201cdoing the Trump Freedom show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe didn\u2019t mention Trump. I\u2019m getting all these texts, \u2018We\u2019re gonna cancel C+C Music Factory, this is going to be a terrible show\u2019,\u201d Williams said of the feedback to the announcement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I told my agent, `Yeah, no, I ain\u2019t good to do that\u2019\u2026 I don\u2019t f&#8212; with Trump. I don\u2019t give a f&#8212; about Trump\u2026 I know the type of f&#8212;ing anarchy he creates.
