MAGA Senate Flop Launches White House Bid After Crushing Defeat

A MAGA candidate who failed to win a Senate race in his home state thinks he has what it takes to become president of the United States.

Royce White, a 35-year-old Republican who flamed out of the NBA, announced plans to launch a presidential campaign following his crushing defeat to Democrat Amy Klobuchar in the 2024 Minnesota Senate race.

“Now the real fun begins — I will be starting my campaign for President next week,” White announced Wednesday on X. “I don’t care how much money they say I need or how much a– I’m supposed to kiss. It ain’t going to happen!”

White only secured 40.5 percent of the vote in his 2024 matchup against Klobuchar, who got 56.3 percent. After former NFL reporter Michele Tafoya won the Minnesota Republican primary for the Senate on Tuesday, White mourned the downfall of his state.

“What I witnessed today in Minnesota is disgusting,” he wrote after midnight on Wednesday. “We have not had enough yet. Minnesota nice has killed our state. We still believe in moderates, it’s embarrassing.”

White took a hard rightward turn in recent years after leading a campaign to focus on athletes’ mental health in 2019 and even protesting alongside Black Lives Matter demonstrators in his hometown of Minneapolis in 2020.

The former Iowa State basketball player was under contract with the Sacramento Kings and the Houston Rockets during this brief stint in the NBA, but ultimately ended his NBA career with zero points, rebounds, and assists after disputes over accommodations for his mental-health conditions, including a fear of flying.”

Over the years, he has carved out a space for himself in the MAGA movement by making inflammatory comments about women, members of the LGBTQ+ and Jewish communities, and vaccines, among other things.

On Tuesday, he found a way to blame his fear of flying on transgender women.

“I realized my fear of flying really wasn’t a fear of flying. It was the transgender trapped inside of me, caged inside of me, that gave me an aversion to small spaces,” he told the Free People Radio podcast.

The Daily Beast previously earned White’s ire by reporting on his whopping debts, including more than $100,000 in child support payments for a daughter he barely sees.

“My left nut gets more media attention than this left rag,” he said in 2024 after the Beast published the story. “It’s been a great couple of weeks. The MSM [mainstream media] blinks every time I take a leak! You people are scared shitless, and I love it. Every time you get a story wrong and spell my name right, you might as well send a donation.”
