Cain, 60, fired a jab at Michigan’s Democratic nominee for Senate, Abdul El-Sayed, on Sunday, trying to disparage the progressive following his brutal roast of President Donald Trump’s marriage to Melania Trump.
“Has anyone ever seen a photo of Michigan Senate candidate Abdulrahman Mohamed El Sayed (D) playing High School football?” the former actor-turned-MAGA mouthpiece said on X, mimicking Trump’s choice to refer to El-Sayed by his full name. “He says he was captain of the team, but I can’t find a single photo. Internet, please do your thing.”
One X user pointed out that El-Sayed had shared one himself on his Instagram in March, saying that finding it “literally took 2 seconds.”
Another user shared a newspaper clip from 2002, which talked about El-Sayed’s dual role as a center and noseguard for his football team at Bloomfield Hills Andover High School.
El-Sayed’s athletic background is no secret. In 2018, he told USA Lacrosse about his experience playing the sport for the University of Michigan’s club program, highlighting how he had also grown up playing hockey and football while growing up in suburban Detroit.
The Globe and Mail also explored his background as a captain of his high school lacrosse, football, and wrestling teams in a 2017 profile.

The Egyptian-American progressive has come into the spotlight following his primary win over moderate Democrat Haley Stevens last week. Trump, 80, has set his sights on El-Sayed, whom he calls by his full name in similar fashion to his repeated emphasis on Barack Obama’s middle name, “Hussein.”
During a Truth Social rampage on Saturday night, the president posted a photo of himself and his wife, Melania, next to El-Sayed and his wife, Dr. Sarah Jukaku, with the caption: “Two VERY DIFFERENT America’s.”
The progressive Democrat later appeared on CNN’s State of the Union and issued a scathing clapback to Trump.
“Actually, Sarah and I like each other. I don’t know about the First Lady and the president, but from what I’ve heard, it’s a bit of a rocky road,” El-Sayed said.
“You’ve got two different visions of America,” he continued. “Donald Trump’s vision is the one you’re living in right now. Can you afford your gas? Can you afford your groceries? Do you believe when you look your kids in the eye, that they’re going to have a better future than you did?”
“When we look our daughters in the eye, Emmalee and Serene, we want them to believe that they are every bit as able to have a better future than the one that they could have had under the Trump Administration,” he added.
