Trump Humiliated as Ally Flat-Out Rejects His Demands

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the latest peace plan for Gaza that the Trump administration offered.

The blow comes less than a week after Trump announced, through his so-called “Board of Peace,” a 15-point plan aimed at securing stable peace in the territory. The administration had portrayed the plan as a historic agreement and massive breakthrough, as it would secure the disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza.

But Netanyahu on Sunday made his country’s side clear: “I want to be precise here: Israel rejects the 15-point document.”

“We are now discussing this with the Americans,” he continued. “They have ideas, some of which are acceptable to us and some are not, and we know how to stand up to those things.”

“As long as I am prime minister, no Palestinian state will be established — not in Gaza and not in the West Bank,” he added.

The news comes as Netanyahu’s right-wing coalition is facing a tough election at the end of October. Polling suggests that his coalition will fall short of the 61-seat required majority to form a government.

Netanyahu had promised “absolute victory” over Hamas after the terrorist group led the Oct. 7 attack that sparked Israel’s war in Gaza. But as the war continues three years later, Hamas still controls most of the territory as it has for nearly two decades.

Israel and Hamas had agreed to an initial U.S.-backed cease-fire in Gaza in October, but questions still remain about the future of Hamas’ control of the territory.

Trump’s new peace plan had required that Hamas give up its weapons, also one of the core demands from Israel. Hamas had said it would only agree to the deal if Israel ceased its strikes in Gaza and pulled its troops back to the “yellow line,” as defined by the October ceasefire agreement.

Israeli forces occupy the majority of Gaza, and senior officials have signaled that they want to expand that control further.

Netanyahu’s rejection of the Trump-backed peace plan comes as the two world leaders have had a rocky relationship in recent weeks.

Trump, who has dubbed himself the “president of peace,” has grown increasingly frustrated with Netanyahu’s repeated strikes in Gaza and Lebanon, especially as he attempts to negotiate an end to his disastrous war in Iran.

In June, he launched a profanity-ridden attack on Netanyahu after Israel struck Lebanon during talks with Iran.

Trump said he told Netanyahu at the time, “Why did Bibi have to do a f—ing attack? I was so p—ed off. I let him know. He has no f—ing judgement. I let him know that.”
